The Learning Paradigm College By John Tagg Analysis

In this book The learning paradigm college by John Tagg, the author illustrates his point for the poor efficiency of the students’ learning nowadays, as he pointed out the issue occurs in the different levels, either in academic sources, Teacher training or even education system itself has discourage students to learn more deeply, actively, integrally and carefully. In addition, as stating for not representing any official perspective, he shares his opinion about how can the modern education system improve to motivate or change the student’s learning habit to help their development in the future. Moreover, as the authors said in the end of the chapter, to provide a better learning environment for the next generation.

In addition, the book has cited different examples from some college around the states that show the matching or relevant situation in the academic system. For instance, state university in Michigan, Oregon, and California has been noticed for their unique ways and rules for providing the most resources and assistant for bringing the biggest benefit to the student learning. Furthermore, some university had kept their formerly tradition as keeping the organized discipline, while importing with innovative ideas to the traditions. For example, Purdue University, University of Kansas and Portland state university creates a new type of learning assistant such as spaces and resources that encourage students to learn actively. On the other hand, in my opinion, the book could be better with improving some small issues. For instance, the amount of current college that uses as example could be increased as adding more creditability to persuade more readers to believe in his perspective of future paradigm learning transformation. Also, as following the increasing of creditability, the author’s claim could add more scientific researches as adding more numerical data or graphical researches that still conducted by professional researchers and teams to convince more agreement on his points and plans for future paradigm of learning college educational system. In conclusion, this book The Learning Paradigm College written by John Tagg is a well-researched, well-conducted and well-organized book that, in my opinion, could bring benefit to the future generation or to the individuals that participated and majored in the education
