POWER OF COMMUNICATION
“Success is led by the Power of Communication”

OVERVIEW:
“Communication is the transfer of information from one person to another person. It is a way of reaching others by transmitting ideas, facts, thoughts, feelings and
Values”
~ John W. Newstrom

In order to understand the Power of Communication, first we need to get acquainted with the process of communication, various elements of it and barriers involved in effective communication.
Communication is sending and receiving information between two or more people.
The person sending the message is referred to as the sender, while the person receiving the information is called the receiver. The information conveyed can include facts, ideas, concepts, opinions, beliefs, attitudes, instructions and even emotions. When we communicate we speak, listen, and observe.
Communication is meaningful interaction among people so that the thoughts are transmitted in such a manner that it conveys the same meaning for the sender and receiver. Communication is an important skill which is needed in every sphere of life.
This is the means by which it connects every mankind. Communication, to be effective, cannot be a haphazard process. It has to be planned and executed so that it evokes the desired response.
Skill to communicate depends on the capacity of an individual to convey ideas and feelings to another to evolve a desired response. Communication helps in fostering motivation, aids in the function of control, provides information for making decisions, better coordination among the people.

Any communication must be interpreted and understood in the same manner as it was meant to be by the sender, otherwise it will not achieve the desired result and communication breakdown will happen. Various Barriers like Noise, Cultural,
Interpersonal, feedback makes the communication ineffective. Basic communication process and its elements are illustrated in Figure 01.
