Abstract:
The aim of this extended essay is to find out: “To what extend can Lets’eng diamonds Mine sustain the motivation of its workers?
The body of the essay contains the situation of Lets’eng Diamonds Mine at the present moment and the application of motivation theory addresses different issues listed in the body. The body is about putting down the situation of the company while the application of theory analyses the situation at Lets’eng Diamonds Mine.
The conclusion I that Lets’eng Diamonds Mine can sustain the motivation of its workers to a significant degree. The reason being that that strength of recent motivators is quite effective than just a few limitations. Moreover, there are some suggestions or recommendations which show the …show more content…
The answer for that is bound to come up, and that is the importance of this topic. The mining industry is labour intensive. This is due to thousands, if not millions, of people that work in mines worldwide. “What is less understood or realised is that the most significant resource of any business is the people it employs” . This is because if there are no workers, there will not be any work undertaken, no matter how sophisticated the machines may be.
“It is therefore of greater significance than ever to keep the good staff and to continue to attract the best recruits as possible.” This can only be achieved if the workers are well motivated. If the workers are well motivated then they will be productive. It will not benefit the company to keep workers that are not productive. Productive workers reduce the costs of the company while on the other hand; workers that are not productive increase the costs of the …show more content…
It gave me the solid foundation of the motivation theory. I also used the information of the company which I basically got from the internet, specifically on the company’s website (www.Letsengdiamonds.com).
I also used local newspapers and trade journals which wrote a number of articles about Lets’eng Diamonds Mine. They were basically talking about some complains of the workers in the company and some previous cases that affected the reputation of the company, just because of the worker’s limited motivation.
There is also a bit of primary research to enhance my findings and the power of my argument. I issued the questionnaire to the Human resource manager and 50 employees as I thought they will give a reliable data as it would be coming from the horse’s own mouth. I considered the employees that are working down in the open cast as they are the ones that need the greatest motivation because they are the ones who are involved in the most important part of the mining process which is extracting
