If one international brand must be selected as the most favourite one for Chinese consumers, it would be Kentucky Fried Chicken, or KFC as it is known more commonly. According to questionnaire survey conducted by the globally-renowned marketing researching company AC Nielsen in 30 China cities in 1999, KFC was accepted by Chinese consumers as “the most popular brand” and ranked as the No.1 among top ten international brands in China. With the increasing abundance of managerial experience, the expanding number of staffs and the gradually impeccable management system, KFC accelerates its velocity of development since entering the Chinese market in 1987. Up to now, there are over 3,200 outlets in more than 700 cities across China and the number keeps growing rapidly, which makes China the largest overseas market of KFC. It cannot be denied that KFC has achieved great success in China and the prosperity cannot be separated from its effective international business development roadmap for the Chinese market.…

KFC which comes under Yum Brands has the second best global brand in the fast food industry. They stand strong till today for many reasons like their trade secret of original chicken recipe with 11 herbs and spices, they have over 4,000 outlets in China itself where they get maximum of their revenues from, they offer more products from the other Yum brands and satisfy more customers. KFC gained a lot of negative publicity because of the criticism received from PETA over the conditions of raising chicken; they were serving chicken wings with kidney and also got into the news for untrustworthy suppliers. More and more people are opting for a healthy living but KFC foods are high on calories. They lack menu innovation and thus losing a lot of customers.…

In order to bring success in China, KFC knows that western restaurants need changed by using localization strategy. As cultural adaptation is the process of “adjusting the native ways of thinking and behaviors to be consistent with the local culture” (Kotler, 1982), KFC tends to launch Chinese food apart from western food like burger or chicken wings, for examples, Chinese food like congee and rice, and promote Chinese herbal tea in 2004. KFC launched Chinese products like ‘Wolfberry Pumpkin Congee’, ‘Chicken Porridge with Mushroom’, ‘Duck Soup’, even lunched the ‘Deep-fried dough sticks’ in 2008. 90% of its raw materials are coming from the local too. It is obviously that KFC is trying to create the Chinese taste food when it entering to China market. The Chinese food fit the local taste and it helps KFC to build up the relationship with the Chinese people. Also, KFC introduced several new products with Chinese regional characteristics aiming to adapt local taste. For instance, ‘Dragon Twister Combo’,…

I am going to talk about KFC as I worked before. Kentucky Fried Chicken, also known as KFC, a famous chicken chains restaurant, was introduced to Britain in 1965 and the first store was in Preston. Many more followed in 1986, following the worldwide acquisition of KFC by PepsiCo, it was announced that the British operation, KFC GB Ltd had become a joint venture – a company owned by Trust house Forte and PepsiCo. In January 1997, Tricon Global Restaurants and Tricon Restaurants International were founded and KFC became part of its group which is the world’s largest restaurant group with restaurants in nearly 100 countries in the world. If we combined with Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, there are nearly 30,000 restaurants worldwide. In 2002 Tricon changed its name to YUM! Brand Inc. Despite these changes in ownership, the strength of the KFC brand has seen the expansion of the UK & Ireland restaurant network to its current level of over 700 locations, some company operated and some franchised. The excellent growth of KFC in UK had also become a model for the KFC in Europe. (KFC1 )(Yum!)…
