CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY Guest accommodation has been a contributing factor in the local economy of City of San Carlos. The city has design many programs for tourism promotions. With the increasing numbers of people visiting the tourist attractions that the city offers, so with the hotels, inns and other guest accommodation facilities. Within the city, there are many available hotels and inns. And one of them is Fe-Ben Travellers’ Inn, located at Eco Tourism Highway, Don Juan Subdivision, San Carlos City and operated by Mrs. Ma. Emmylou Yap. It started its operation since March 29, 2011. The inn offers the following type of accommodation, Economy(Double Bed), Economy(Triple Sharing), Standard (Double Bed), Standard(Triple Sharing), De luxe (Double Bed), De luxe(Twin Bed) and Family Room. It has nine (9) rooms available and likewise offers foods and beverages to their guests. With the increase of guests especially during peak seasons, the management encounters many problems especially in the registration of guests and their billing needs. Since they are using the manual method of registering the guests, billing, and making reports, the present methods require a lot of manual work which sometimes time consuming and could produce some inaccuracies. With the plan of expansion, the hotel must enhance their facilities, more especially in the registration and billing of customers, so that they could cater the needs of their clients immediately and moreover, to be able to compete with other hotels that are already employing computerized guest registration, billing and reporting.

JOB FUNCTIONS Proprietor This refers to the Inn’s owner that has the over-all management function of the hotel. It’s mainly responsible in the strategic management of the Inn; who is likewise legally responsible for the fiscal management of the Inn. General Manager This refers to the person who is hired by the proprietor to manage the Inn in day-to-day basis. This person makes decision for the business in behalf of the owner and is directly responsible to him. He is also the person who oversees the rest of the employees of the Inn.
