Children's day speech
John Lennon once said, ““When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”
In India, every year, November 14th is celebrated as Children’s Day and is also the birthday of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, also known as Chacha Nehru. As a tribute to him and his love for the children, this day is celebrated as Children’s Day. He worked passionately towards the welfare of children and was keen about the education and development of children in India.
I find children's day very special. Do you know why? Because the child in me also celebrates. All of us, including grownups, have the child within us. Childhood is common to all of us. We are still our parent’s children, and to God, all of us are his children, aren't we? From the youngest child to the oldest teacher, all of us here are God's children. On this day, let us say hello to the child within us. This day is an opportunity to deeply and truly connect with the child within all of us.
We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today.
So let us all spend this one day enjoying being children rather than contemplating what the future holds.
Paul Rand once said, “Design is the method of putting form and content together. Design, just as art, has multiple definitions; there is no single definition. Design can be art. Design can be aesthetics. Design is so simple, that's why it is so complicated.”
Design to me, is a language, like music, it is a manner of planning and organizing things in a useful way, it is like an art of problem solving , but unlike math, design never has a single correct solution.
We all have a chance to create our own solutions, and thus, the intention of a designer, is to be the best problem solver.
I would like to pursue undergraduate study in design at RDI, Mumbai. What appeals to me most about RDI is the range of specializations and how they perfectly fit my need and sit my interests. RDI would act as my guide, not only giving me a strong design-oriented foundation, but also give me the chance to hone my skills and develop in me the characteristics required for a design success.
Since my childhood, I have been drawing and sketching. It made me able to put in ideas onto paper, and put down things that words would never be able to express.
