ABORTION SHOULD NOT BE DONE BECAUSE RISK MOTHER’S HEALTH
Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. In the other words, abortion means abort the baby birth with your full consciousness. Why this action still exist? And what’s something bad about that? Abortion is more than an idea but it’s a hard reality. It is the quickest way to terminate the embryo on the mother ‘s womb and it absolutely affect the health condition of mother. In Indonesia, abortion strictly forbidden by law on KUHP Pasal 346 “Seorang wanita yang sengaja menggugurkan atau mematikan kandungan atau menyuruh orang lain untuk itu , diancam dengan pidana penjara paling lama empat tahun” But still, there are some women who choose abortion as their solution to pregnancy. Reports from detikhealth have shown about 2,5 million abortion every year. Abortion claim to be the safest medical procedures to terminate baby birth. According to vemale.com, a lots of serious risk will come during abortion or in a later day such as death suddenly and cancer. In this essay, we contend that abortion should not be done because risk mother’s health. It might be argued that abortion can be done because there is no other options for unwanted pregnancy. As we know, people beliefs holds important rule to run the society, it makes some women must take an action to keep the unwanted pregnancy a secret and not being heard by society. Pregnant is an evidence for unmarried women and it being considered as a family shame and disgrace. However, abortion have a high risk effect to mother physical health. It’s not about easily doesn’t have any other options. Mentioned in balipost.com dr.Made Darmayasa Sp. OG.(K). abortion have effects to short period and long period risk such as sudden death due to bleeding, slow death due to a serious infection around the womb. For the long period effect to mother will be worst such as infertile and many kinds of cancer (cervix, breast, liver, and ovarian). It is harm the mother’s body. Another reason supporting abortion is to protect rape victim from trauma. It might be argued that, women who experienced a violence such as rape feel depressed and guilty because they are pregnant against her will. A pregnancy caused by rape sometimes abort because she wants to erase the trauma. The baby can be a reminder of a terrible accident in the past. One of the way out which think in their mind is to lose it by abortion. But it needs to be considered thousand time because abortion also have an effect on psychological health of mother. The trauma, the memories, all of the horror will tragically leave an imprint on that simply can’t be erased by erasing the pregnancy (Stephanie Gray, 2013). This mental and emotional sickness called as “Post Abortion Syndrome”. The symptoms are noted in Psychological Reactions Reported After Abortion (David C. Reardon, 1994) are loss of self-confidence, shout hysterical, constant nightmare about baby, want to commit suicide, begins to use drugs, no longer able to enjoy sexual intercourse, and eating disorder such as bulimia and anorexia. Negative feeling about abortion become worse when the mother gets married, want to start pregnant, and saw the information about fetus development in the media. Abortion is not only about idea of terminate the unwanted baby but it is a feeling of mother. Solution can be take such as gave birth and adoption to orphanage so other people who want to adopt could bear and take care of the baby. It has been said that it is a women’s right to have an abortion. It claims by National Abortion Federation (NAF), 2010 that abortion has become one of the safest medical procedures in the country. They served and treat the patients best and provide women high quality doctor to do abortion. By keeping abortion legal, it beliefs to help protect the lives and safety of women facing unplanned pregnancies. The right of abortion is really important to individual women to reach their full potential. It symbolize the full freedom of women as having a human rights. However, unborn baby life has meaning. Indeed, President of America Ronald Reagan on his essay Abortion and the Conscience of the Nation said :
“Our society has, fortunately, become sensitive to the rights and special needs of the handicapped, but I am shocked that physical or mental handicaps of newborns are still used to justify their extinction. This Administration has a Surgeon General,
Dr. C. Everett Koop, who has done perhaps more than any other American for handicapped children, by pioneering surgical techniques to help them, by speaking out on the value of their lives, and by working with them in the context of loving families. You will not find his former patients advocating the so-called "quality-oflife" ethic. I know that when the true issue of infanticide is placed before the American people, with all the facts openly aired, we will have no trouble deciding that a mentally or physically handicapped baby has the same intrinsic worth and right to life as the rest of us.”
Think of one baby one unborn baby her life has meaning, regardless if she/he has such disability such as down syndrome, she had her value. All human life is valuable. We can’t say that one life is more valuable than another. It is all about facing and accept something we cannot change. In conclusion abortion should not be done because risk mother’s health. The reasons women choose abortion are facing shame from unwanted pregnancy, protect rape victim from trauma, and believe that women have rights to do abortion. But we must remember that abortion have a great impact on physical and mental health of the mother. Abortion have short period problem to physical health of the mother such as death suddenly nad the long period effect such as infertile and cancer. Abortion also give impact to mental health such as Post Abortion Syndrome Abortion . It is when the mother experience symptoms like loss of confidence, shout hysterical, and constant nightmare about baby, and even worse want to commit suicides and begin to use drugs. When talking about rights, we have to realize that unborn baby life also has meaning. There is no reason that one life is more valuable than others.

In industrialized world, abortion is not a criminal offence until a series of law against abortion were passed during the nineteenth century. The proponent prohibition of abortion globally has stressed the medical dangers of abortion. Moreover, it is also argued that fetuses are human beings. Deliberate abortion is therefore considered a form of homicide crime (……..). In popular rhetoric in the USA, abortion issue is considered as a purely women’s right that helps them in maintaining their bodies. Therefore, if women possess the moral right to abort their unwanted pregnancies, the law should not prohibit them from practicing the act of abortion. However, the arguments for this right cannot entirely solve the moral issue of abortion. It is one thing to have a right and another to morally justify when exercising that right. Since fetuses are considered to have equal rights to life like any other person, women’s right to abortion should therefore be exercised only on extreme…

Abortion is a term used for the termination of the pregnancy by removing of the embryo or the fetus from the uterus of a woman. The abortion takes place in two ways. It can be induced abortion or it can be spontaneous abortion. In the induced abortion, the pregnancy is aborted intentionally, but the spontaneous abortion take place of its own due to some natural or accidental reasons. But whatever be the reason, the word abortion is always a burning issue in the society and politics. In the United States, abortions were legalized after the case Roe v. Wade, 1973 ruled that laws banning abortion were unconstitutional. Since then, groups supporting the right to abortion (“pro choice”) and groups against abortion (“pro life”) have continued to have ideological battles over which argument should be the law of the land. However, a woman is best capable of deciding whether or not she is able and willing to care for a child. Thus, she should similarly be able to decide whether or not she wishes to terminate an unwanted pregnancy.…

Spontaneous abortions due to complications which can be developed during any stage of a pregnancy is an acceptable norm by both medical and non-medical professions alike and the term miscarriage is widely used. It is at the point of what is known as elective or therapeutic abortion that lines are crossed and drawn. Therapeutic abortion, which is carried out to save the mother’s life is more accepting to most people and religion. Elective abortion, on the other hand, magnates a world of opinion. It invokes moralistic and religious views of right and wrong.…

A dilemma is brewing for the society as a whole today in the name of abortion which has become a controversial issue that faces everyone countrywide. Abortion is defined as the forcible removal of a developing baby from the womb of his or her mother, using surgical, involuntary, or chemical means. Nowadays, abortion has been a very popular and debatable topic because of the moral and ethical issue associated with it. The most momentous moment in the history of abortion in America was the Roe vs. Wade case, which allowed the option of abortions legal to women across the nation. Today struggle still remains on the moral ethics behind it and the question is asked, “Is abortion the murder of an unborn child?” and the other question asked today is, “should abortion be declared illegal?” The debate over abortion in the United States historically holds ground both politically and socially. America is split into two sides; pro - choice and pro – life, both sides have their points that they stand on. To sum it up, either a living human is or isn’t being killed, and case between life or liberty is born. The differences make it hard to settle the two sides. Though it looks like both sides will never compromise they do share some similarities. Both sides to the abortion controversy share a common objective, which is to make abortion safer, and the overall number of abortions should reduce. There is much debate whether this is an action of life or death, and the difference is rather large. Our nation is split over the legal and moral status of abortion. The two sides of abortion, are the "pro-choice” and the "pro-life." In simple terms, a pro-choice individual believes that the choice to abort a pregnancy is to be made only by the woman; the state should not interfere. A pro-life advocate believes from the second of conception, the fetus is alive; and has rights thus abortion is the…

    Abortion: Social Justice

Abortion is defined as the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo, resulting in its death. About 42 million abortions are performed worldwide each year, and an astounding 20 million of them occurring unsafely. These unsafe abortions result in 70,000 deaths and 5 million disabilities a year. Most abortions are performed in the first twelve weeks using the ‘vacuum’ method. The majority of women that choose abortion do so because they are not ready for motherhood, are concerned with their careers or education, or have an issue with maintaining financial or relationship stability. Abortion is legal in the United States and most of Europe. Yet in most African and South American countries, it is illegal, with the exception for maternal life, physical and mental health and in Africa, rape. All of these factors make abortion one of the most controversial social justice issues. On one hand, it prevents unfit women from becoming mothers and possibly sparing pain for themselves and their babies. Yet the act of abortion itself is what most people struggle to accept. The removal of a fetus from a mother’s womb and the ending of a human life is seen as murder by many. There is no easy solution to the issue of abortion because it is excruciatingly difficult to weigh the importance of an unborn child’s life and success against your own, and millions of women struggle with this every day.…

“Out of the 42 million abortions yearly, about 68,000 women will die of unsafe abortions and 5 million will suffer with health complications”(medreviews.com). Why would you take your baby’s life and risk yours as well? Many abortions have the mother doing actions like drinking bleach or inserting things inside her body to kill the baby. While this solves the mother’s problem, it also risks her life by causing poisoning or internal bleeding. “The main causes of death from unsafe abortions are hemorrhage, infection, sepsis, and genital trauma”(medreviews.com).…
