Jordan Belfort, the ruthless stockbroker, can be described as the modern day Midas in many ways. For example, he used and taught his workers his “Kodak pitch” to get investors in which they charm and sugar coat details until the investors take the bait (Solomon). Like Midas, Jordan Belfort uses kindness for the wrong reasons. Nonetheless, his greed shows through this technique because he is using it get more investors which equals more money. He makes eighty-five thousand dollars a year with his scams but eventually gets convicted of money laundering and security fraud (Kolhatkar 72). There is something in everybody’s childhood that torments us, deeply scaring our life. It is not the evil from bedtime stories. It is not words from your arrogant parents. It is homework, given to us by the messenger of the devils - school teachers; of every kind; given to your when you are least expected, and leaving you with nothing but total melancholy. It is the embodiment of the devil. It anchors thousands of workload into the worker’s soul. Making the student needing to complete it at any cost. The breaking of pencils. The trace of ‘blood’, shed from a pen. The constant frustration in labouring yourself in completing the worksheet. The task. The homework.…

To keep the stress away, he listens to hard rock and always takes his drumsticks with him to the office where he remains comfortably in a t-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops. Mr. Carell’s Mark Baum is a respected hedge-fund manager who’s not afraid to tell what he thinks, often showing indignity about how the market works; he’s a man of principles and keeps struggling hard with the suicide of his brother. Jared Vennet, an elegant trader for Deutsche Bank, was the one who informed Baum and his team about what was coming, urging them to investigate and take their own conclusions. Pitt’s Ben Rickert, wearing a beard and eyeglasses, is considerably more discreet than the rest of the bright visionaries. Less exuberant than “The Wolf of Wall Street”, funnier than “Margin Call”, and equally striking as “99 Homes”, the intrepid and almost impolite “The Big Short”, flowing at a commendable pace, is only short in its title since both message and presentation are big and explanatory enough to elucidate and…
The first ethical issue that is identified in the movie is Globodyne’s fraudulent and dishonest financial dealings. One day, Dick is called up to the prominent 51st floor of Globodyne where he gets the promotion he has been dreaming of; he is now the Vice President of Communications. At this point in the movie Dick is made the face of Globodyne. Almost immediately Jack and Frank, the CEO and CFO, tell Dick he will be speaking on a television show called “Money Life with Sam Samuels” to discuss the company. They tell him he will just be discussing the quarterly projections and ask him to “put a positive spin” on the company. Dick is ambushed by the host, Sam, who informs him that the CEO of Globodyne has recently unloaded a considerable share of his own company stocks. Dick’s responses or lack thereof, made it obvious that he was not aware of anything going on in the company. He is also confronted by a presidential hopeful on the television show who says that companies like Globodyne “pervert the American dream." When he arrives back at the office everything is in utter chaos. All the employees, including the CFO Frank Bascombe, are running around the office shredding and burning documents trying to cover up the apparent corporate scandal that Dick…

Margin call was a compelling movie that illustrates an early view of the businessmen who discovered early on the fatal truths of the mortgage-based securities during the crash of 2008. A risk analyst Peter Sullivan discovers that current volatility in the market has threatened these mortgaged-based securities, which were generating most of the firm’s profits. The losses according to the data would cause trillions of dollars to vanish and close the bank completely. The movie displays the drama behind what these early discoverers had found and the tough ethical decisions they had to make during the process.…
It would be easy to say that if I were Seth Davis, I’d just leave my high-paying job at the first sign of ethical and moral dilemma I’d be having with myself. The situation however is more complicated as winning the father’s approval comes into the picture making releasing the job harder than it seems like. JT Marlin may know its business, its prospects and its tactics well, but all the unethical practices that go with it just doesn’t compensate for the integrity of a good sales person. Therefore, if I were Seth Davis, I would quit my high-paying job and use my earnings and good learnings from it to put up a brand new, squeaky clean business and be a good sales person even by myself. The act of proper social responsibility would in itself take me higher eventually as in the end, satisfied customers lead to loyalty, referrals and…

A steam boiler is a vessel that contains water and a heat source powered by oil, coal or gas. The boiler transfers heat from the heat source to the water vessel, thereby turning the water into steam. This steam exits the vessel through a pipe and is transported to another location where it can be used for cleaning, to power equipment, to provide heat or for a number of other functions. A closed boiler system is one in which 100 percent of the steam is returned to the vessel in the form of water and reused. Closed boiler systems are very efficient and less costly to operate. However, some industrial processes contaminate the steam and prevent it from being reused. A boiler that does not return the used steam to the water vessel is called an open system.…
