As a parent my main concern is my childrens health. There has been an increased interest in vaccine safety over the past decade as opposed to the 1980’s. There has been many successful results from vaccines. The introduction and widespread use of vaccines have profoundly affected the occurrence of several infectious diseases. For example smallpox has been eliminated with the last naturally occurring case in 1977, and the vaccination against smallpox stopped. Poliomyelitis is another disease near elimination with a the last case occurring in 1979. Vaccinating your children and yourself is important, because of the existing continuous threats of…

    MMR Vaccine Analysis

The body notices that a unwanted disease has entered the body and tries to find a cure for it. To do this the body produces antibodies. Antibodies are substances produced by the body to fight the disease by combining chemically with substances which the body doesent want. Vaccines trigger the immune system to produce antibodies as though it has been infected with the disease. This means that if the person is to be exposed to this disease again the immune system will recognse it and produce the antboodies needed to get rid of the disease. This decreases the risk of getting the disease because the body is quicker to identify the disease and knows what antibodies to use. The MMR vaccine needs to be taken in two separate doses in order for everyone to give a maximum immune response to the disease meaning there will be maximum protection. The first dose is given at 12-15 months old and the second dose at 4-6 years old. Doing this twice means the antibodies get produced at a faster rate and at a higher blood percentage level which gets rid of the disease faster than what only one dose would. These antibodies produced after the MMR diseases enter the body give lifelong protection against these…

Although vaccination has proved to be an effective measure in preventing disease, controversies remain over whether the risks of side effects of vaccinations outweigh the risk of contracting the disease. Vaccination is the process when pathogenic cells are injected into the cells of a healthy person so that the body develops immunity through antibodies to that virus or bacterium. The U.S Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that children get 16 vaccines including Diphtheria, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, Haemophilus influenzae, influenza, human papillomavirus, measles, meningococcal, mumps, pertussis, pneumococcal, polio, rotavirus, rubella, tetanus, and varicella (Merino 7-8). Vaccines, along with an acute amount of the disease…

Now Most vaccine-preventable diseases are rare in the United States due to vaccinations, but they do still exist and affect people in other countries that can be easily brought to the United States, and all it would take for a harmful vaccine-preventable disease to come to the Unite States is an infected person from another country to come here or an unvaccinated person to go to another country and come back. That’s how the 2008 measles outbreak occurred in California, an unvaccinated child went to Sweden on vacation with their parents and contracted the disease and came back to the United States and got other children sick. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 90% of measles cases in the United States in 2011 were brought from someone from a foreign country.According to Dr.Jason McDonald "If you are unvaccinated and you come in contact with measles, there's a 90% chance you will get it,".When adults and children have not been vaccinated diseases spread more easily and rapidly in an environment, so everyone should be protected from these diseases just in case this happens and to prevent another possible mass epidemic from…
