Why Do You Want To Write A Personal Statement Why Can Machines Think?
Personal Statement
I distinctly remember the time I was first introduced to programming. My friend was running a C program on his computer which could, based on some yes/no questions guessed the number a person had thought of in his/her mind. This capability of machine mesmerized me. “Can Machines Think?” – This question which was proposed by Alan Turing, has significantly advanced the field. Imagine his joy if he’d be able to witness IBM’s Deep Blue beating world champion chess player Gary Kasparov. I sincerely want to contribute to the field of Computer Science for which, I am more than excited to pursue a graduate degree at your university. The approach that the education system of the US follows is what I truly admire. Also studying from

These experiences taught me the importance of teamwork, communication and especially management skills; getting everything done on an allocated budget and deadline was a challenge that we enjoyed achieving success …show more content…

During student council we worked very closely as a team throughout the year, in small groups, and as the council as a whole. It was though this organization that I was able to branch out and find a lot of great opportunities to help my community on a local and national scale. The first major event that I helped organized was our Thanksgiving project. Our small group decided that we wanted to organize a fundraiser for soldiers where we wrote letters and collected other supplies to send over seas. As the group leader I delegated each of the individuals to have a different job, but we all worked very closely together in order to accomplish our duties. One job was to advertise around school, another was to find business donations, and my main job was to communicate between the people in my group and the organization we were sending our letters and supplies to. We decided to write the letters during the Week of Veterans Day, so that we could send them to be delivered before Thanksgiving. In the end we were able to get the whole school involved and we were able to write hundreds of letters and gather other necessities to send in care packages like travel toothpastes and toothpicks. Being the first major project that I was in charge of has made this a great team building activity, because it showed me that no matter what, if I put enough hard work into a project and communicate effectively, I can get things accomplished in a…

Aside from learning the responsibilities and goals of the leader, photographer, environmentalist, marathoner, and physician, I learned more important lessons that apply to all successful organizations. First of all, communication is key. If only one or two members speak up, groups assume everyone is in agreement. Everybody must speak up; this means each member must have honest and direct conversations, ask questions, acknowledge errors, and offer ideas. Additionally, listening is just as important as communication skills.…

A recent trend in high performance computing (HPC) has been towards the use of parallel processing to solve computationally-intensive problems. Several parallel architectures, which offer corresponding increases in performance as the number of processors is increased, have been designed in the last few years. Nowadays, with the enormous transistor budgets of 45-nm and 32- nm technologies on a silicon die, it is feasible to place large CPU clusters on a single chip (System on Chip, SoC) allowing both large local memories and the high bandwidth of on-chip interconnection. Using this chip-scale multiprocessing, the number of processors on a chip may in the near future scale to dozens or hundreds, depending on their complexity. The basic requirement for building such a SoC turned out to be the low power consumption, in order that system parts could be close together and communication time would be thus minimized. For the same reason, the CPU cores should be simple and processing nodes should be interconnected as effectively as possible.…

As the active student in extracurricular movement, I had many lessons and knowledge from these activities. But the most memorable story is: organizing “a soft skill courses” for student concerned. The courses which attracted more than 200 students, lasted over month and included 3 sessions, 1 practised test. Students had learned skills such as: communication, presentation, handling situations…then practised in the city centre. The students were divided in groups and each one addressed the situation had made by jury before. I worked as head of organizing committee consisting 15 members, so my reponsibility were: made a plan for event, improved the quality more attractive, contacted to skill teachers, researched what studends need,… At that time I really felt great pressure, but after all I gained invaluable things: leadership, external relations, keeping relationships, sense of responsibility.…
