The special events committee has to make sure to choose lecturers that appeal to the majority of students, thus getting more people involved in all our activities and even convincing more people to become honors students. In addition, the responsibilities this committee has are important to strengthen the relationships between the Honors College and other campus departments.
The primary goals should be:
- Plan appealing events, while maintaining expenses in the given budget.
- Make the Honors College event’s even more prestigious.
- Strengthen the relationships between the honors college and other campus departments.
- Plan inclusive events for every community in our campus.
- Encourage more students to become honors.

The Service Committee will help increase the service of the Honors College. This includes developing new volunteer events for Ambassadors and the entire Honors College that benefit the larger Northwest Arkansas community. The committee will assist in planning and executing service opportunities for honors students. Applicants should demonstrate leadership skills and experience in both planning and taking part in

I believe that having honors students helping people in need is something very important. Throughout my life I was constantly involved in community service, in my country I was one of the founders of Interact club Concordia which has a true commitment of helping Bolivian kids get better education opportunities. In addition, I was president of my class during my junior and senior year of high school and I organized four major volunteering activities in which my whole class was involved, together we organized a picnic for 150 orphans during children’s day, visited a nursing home in Christmas, among other activities. I would gladly help this committee to plan and execute service opportunities.
Why is this committee important for the growth of the Honors College? What should be this committee's primary goals?
This committee is important because it demonstrates that honors students can excel at academics and also be service committed citizens. In addition, it can help honors students find their true passion. For instance, I realized that I want to dedicate my life to research in alternative energies while I was volunteering in a village and realized that indigenous kids drop school due to lack of electricity.

The four pillars of the National Honor Society; scholarship, leadership, character, and service are the four qualities of a well-rounded individual. They have not only embodied who I strive to be, but have helped me achieve success and impact throughout my local community and my time as a national honor society member. Scholarship has helped me define not only who I am as a student, but has helped me prepare for my future. Without my drive to maintain my academics and pursue knowledge, I would not have discovered my love and passion for teaching. This newly discovered passion has helped me narrow down my future career, special education. Service, has helped me develop one of my individual characteristics, as I now understand the importance…

The four pillars of National Honors Society, scholarship, service, leadership, and character, have paved a path for me as a student and as a person. Scholarship has taught me to strive to be the best student I can be. I use scholarship to keep up with my school work and never give up when a class is hard. I always strive for the best grade I can get and I will stop at nothing until I reach my goal. I will continue to use scholarship as I go to college and pursue my dream as a pediatric dentist. I will study, I will learn, and I will never give up no matter what happens along the way. I use service when I volunteered to help my local private school. I was never asked to do so, but I felt as if I was giving back to a school that had done so much…

“The hardest obstacle to overcome in any leadership position is getting past the apathy to get people involved in the process to get things done…The greatest enemy to accomplishment is apathy” (Burke). National Honor Society upholds its members to have 4 important values. These being scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Leadership, in my opinion, is a very important aspect in National Honors Society because you are expected to be a role model by positively inspiring people around you. This quote stuck out because it says that inspiring people is a way to overcome obstacles in leadership. If you inspire people and make them get rid of their apathy, you can overcome stalling in the process and reach accomplishment.…

I have been a part of Diversity Club where different cultures come together to share ideas, exchange food, and get to know more about each others’ culture, so I have an idea of what seminars are like. I am a very outgoing person and I love to meet and interact with new people so through these seminars and projects I will be able to do that. I would also like to get a broader perspective on the world and throughout the many different projects, I will gain that. I read about the Honors Program and what will be done throughout the four years and I thought to myself that this is where I belong, I will fit right in. I want to accomplish many things that this program will allow me to and greatness is what I would like to aim for.
