1.1 - Describe the duties and responsibilities of own role

My duties as a care worker involve giving clients personal care, such as assisting with washing, dressing, toileting requirements including catheter and convene care. Assisting with nutritional requirements such as meal planning/preparation/feeding, prompting/administering medication, shipping, cleaning. It is my responsibility to ensure that the client maintains an acceptable level of health and to promote the clients well-being. It is also my responsibility to ensure that all company policies and procedures are carried out and to maintain records for the service delivered, along with responsibility for ensuring that my training needs are kept up-to-date so that I am at the level of standards required to undertake my role. Finally, it is my duty and responsibility to treat clients with respect and dignity at all times.
1.2 - Identify standards that influence the way the role is carried out

Care Standards Act 2000, Domiciliary Care Regulations 2002, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999, Codes of Practice, National Occupational Standards.
1.3 - Describe ways to ensure that personal attitudes or beliefs do not obstruct the quality of work

The easiest, most reliable way to ensure personal attitudes or beliefs do not obstruct the quality of work is to leave those personal attitudes and beliefs at home, where they belong but some beliefs and personal attitudes should be taken to work with you, as these may be the very things that make you perfect for the job. The best way is to be dedicated to excellence. Personal attitudes can be changed through education. That is an important way. It helps to develop a good work ethic. Focus on the job that you are doing, and not on how you may feel in your job. Feel love and compassion and nothing will obstruct the quality of work like a Care.
2.1 - Explain why reflecting on practice is an important way to develop knowledge, skills and practice

Some people learn from their mistakes. The reason it is important for reflecting on practice is to see what you can improve on and focus on that you need to practice more. Also learn from other people strengths and weaknesses, it will also help develop knowledge, skills, and practice.
Through reflection 'in' and 'on' practice, you can:
Focus your thoughts on your experiences.
Gain greater understanding of professional healthcare practice.
Become more aware of the knowledge and skills that you have developed.
Identify your strengths and areas for development.
Develop an action plan for future practice.
3.1 - Identify sources of support for own learning and development

There are many sources of support that you can access and many different ways that you can help yourself, when developing your practice. The appraisal or supervision system in your workplace can be a good starting point.
Asking colleagues and other professional’s questions, accessing internal and external training, spending time working alongside colleagues and other professional’s, Team meetings and discussions.
3.2 - Describe the process for agreeing a personal development plan and who should be involved

Development planning can be a very personal process, or it can be a process required by your employer or tutor. As the word "development" suggests, PDP is something that happens over time. It isn’t a last minute thing. PDP works best when you: Think deeply and in structured ways about your life and ambitions. What does success mean to you personally? Have the right information to make good choices. Have people you can trust to share your reflections. Have opportunities to experiment and test yourself in new areas so that you have a better understanding of your abilities and limits. Have opportunities to develop the knowledge and skills to achieve your ambitions.
