Thirty-Day Challenge Experience Analysis
During the month of October, my classmates and I undertook the thirty-day challenge, where we had to create a specific goal and we had to keep track of our accomplishments daily. The goal that I chose as my final one was to meditate at least five minutes daily to decrease the stress that I would face during the school year. I felt that this was very simple to achieve. With schoolwork and other extracurricular activities, I wanted to set apart some time for myself every day. Thus, I started from a smaller time interval, hoping to alter the time set based on my progress. At first I was apprehensive since I knew that I was likely to not do well with this challenge because I tend to get off track with goals very easily. However, I encouraged myself …show more content…
I was relieved and much calmer through this section of the challenge. My parents and my friends told me that I was more energetic and I focused more, and I felt that change too. Nevertheless, as the days passed, I was getting overwhelmed with homework and other commitments, and the stress began to overtake. So, I decided to increase my time set to get more time for myself, but I noticed that it was harder for me to stay on track. I usually meditated in the evening, or in the morning, but in either case I was tired to even meditate. For instance, in the evening after I completed my homework and copied unfinished lessons it would have already been late at night, and I physically, as well as mentally, could not stay past a certain time because I would be completely exhausted. With sleeping later than my usual time, I did not feel energetic to get up in the morning. Also, half way through the I was not as keen, and eventually forgot to keep track of my daily improvement. One of the major factors that affected this challenge would have been my poor planning. At first I was organized and divided my time accordingly. Later, I did not plan as much and could not separate my school work from my meditation time. In addition, my family would have been at home almost all the time, making it more difficult for me to focus on my goal. If I had many assignments to work on, I would cut

I tried the challenge given by the author and failed very quickly! I only could do it for approximately 1 hour and 48 minutes. When I was just laying there doing nothing, I felt this flood of remorse, and I could not stop thinking about all the things I should be doing instead of this. It was also really hard for my mom, because I help her around the house and by each minute she became increasingly annoyed. I agree with the article that we are programmed not to relax, and to constantly be occupying ourselves with work. It was one of the hardest things to do.…

To begin with, adding extra study time proved unsuccessful because I would have a hard time focusing because it wasn't something I was in the mood to do, as it was a punishment. As for taking my laptop away, I had a hard time with that as well because I have to do work with it, which would just make me even more unproductive than I had been when I started. After those did not work I decided to turn my focus to the reinforcements.…

I am a person who has “strong feelings about obstacles and challenges at work” (Career Feedback Report 13), and does not deal with stress very well. One example of this is during these past two weeks for exams. I had four exams so far, which all contributed to my stress levels rising. I had problems dealing with so many exams, that the stress sometimes made it hard to study and concentrate.…

Through the last nine weeks this class and my experiences have taught me so much about how to prepare myself for my future not only in my college courses but in my career path too. I started this path not really knowing what to expect but in desperate need for a change in my life. In all reality I didn’t realize how unprepared I actually was. This course imp articular taught me so much! I learned how to set goals for myself so that I could stay motivated and be able to visually see my completion of each goal. You separate your goals into short term and long term so that you can effectively schedule your tasks at hand in the correct order to accomplish all of your goals. When I realized that I had a fear of failing I was also directed in this course to learn how to overcome procrastination. It is easy to be motivated in this learning environment by reading the stories and opinions of the other students here. The more motivated you are the less you procrastinate! Managing my time was definitely one of the hugest struggles for me through this experience so I was thankful that this topic was covered so thoroughly in the past weeks. I actually am starting to enjoy making the calendar for each week that organizes the lives of my daughter and I. Another lesson that goes hand in hand with time management is creating an effective learning and study environment. It’s so important to be able to get the absolute most out of every minute of your time. To do this I’ve found that when studying you need to be able to focus yourself on nothing other than your schoolwork and assignments on hand. With all of the things I have learned by my experiences in the past few weeks I feel more confident about my pursuit in my career goals. I feel this has set me up to succeed. I have been able to learn how to think outside the box and be independent in my decision making process.…

For one I had a lot of school work to do for my three classes at IVC. The three classes that I am taking are: English 87, History 120 and English 97. In English 87 with Mrs. Lay, I had to do some practices on chapters 13 and 14 of the Vocabulary book: “Groundwork for a better Vocabulary, Third Edition.” I was really stressed out because at that time I didn’t had the book with me, and I had to research the chapters online. After researching the chapters online I had to study them but I had no time to do the practice because I was at work. I also had to do the Reading Lab practice/test online. It was very stressing because I had to finish block number three in less than one hour. Last I had to study chapter 5 of the book: “Groundwork for college Reading, Fourth Edition.” In History 120 with Mrs. Lopez, I had to do a three papers and one presentation. Those papers were about 3 to 6 pages long. It was very difficult and stressing to do them because I didn’t have any idea of how to describe what a book was about and how make biography. The first paper was about a book named “The Scarlet Letter.” That book is practically about a woman that didn’t have any rights. The other paper was a biography of Elizabeth Blackwell. I also had to finish a power point presentation about Elizabeth Blackwell that at least lasted ten minutes long. It was kind of difficult for me to do that because I had no idea of how to make a power point presentation and add sound or add videos. So I had to look into the internet to make sure I was doing it right. For English 97 with Mr. Simon, I had to rewrite a Frustration…
