Appendix Valentinos’ Case Study

The following information was gained from an interview with Rudolfo, MD of Valentinos, a highly successful “Personal Introductions Agency”. Although they have been very successful and have made major investment in the Internet they are becoming increasingly worried about their market share and continuing profitability. They have asked you to advise them on their strategy and how they might further exploit technology. Their current technology was at the cutting edge 10 years ago but a lack of recent investment in this area is beginning to worry their senior management.

Carefully selected by Valentinos, these people will already have many things in common. Whether clients are looking for friendship, love, marriage, or just want to get out and meet new people, Valentinos will help them start off on the right track.
Most of their new applications come from advertising, which is one of their major outgoings. They advertise in newspapers, magazines and on public transport.
Valentinos have over twenty telephone lines with qualified personnel and ready to talk to clients and offer advice. The Valentinos system has

Technology has paved the way to a new and exciting life. Since technology has become such a major part of our modern day lives, there is much speculation on how fast we are actually accruing new technologies. According to Moore 's Law, we double our technology every two years. This number has actually been updated to 18 months recently, and we can only expect that new to become smaller and smaller. (Greene, para. 1-6, 2011) In other words, we are learning more than ever! Out with the old, and in with the new. In many cases, technology moving forward makes for 'smaller ' phones and computers, features go up, and our technological tools in the world become more involved. This is especially true in the world of business. Technology helps businesses to better reach their customers, organize records, and to establish an online presence. (Swanson, para. 5-11, 2012)…

We understand that recruitment is one of the most difficult aspects for an organization, who is looking for potential employees. There are different types of recruitment, but I believe that Tanglewood should use an Open Recruitment process. This step will allow them to have a variety of applicants from different races, cultures and ages. Also, it will allow them to recruit employees with different strengths and weaknesses, helping them to create a team work that is supported by all of its members. On the other hand, Tanglewood can use targeted recruitment for high management positions that might require specific KSAOs, so the job can be developed.…
