Good morning and thank you all for joining me today. I’m here to talk a bit about information technology and the challenges we will be facing when we start selling our product over the inter-net. I’m going to spend the first half of this presentation discussing the risks we face today. You are all familiar with today’s operations and by discussing the risks involved here, it’ll give you better perspective on the risks we’ll be facing when we start selling on-line, which will be the topic of the second half hour.

Speaker’s notes For your quick reference, the internal audit department has a charter derived from the Institute of Internal Auditor’s International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing. The International Standards govern all audit professionals while our charter has been tailored specifically to address the uniqueness of SERI. Some mention may also be made of the Code of Ethics and IIA’s practice guide regarding internal auditing and fraud. These are also standards to which all auditors subscribe. When I speak of standards, it will be in relation to these documents.

The first topic of discussion is our current information technology environment.

As a quick aside, the note on the bottom right of this slide refers to CICA’s Information Technology Control Guidelines from some of the resources I mentioned earlier. Whenever I reference one of those resources or Standards, I’ll include this type of note. Should you require information beyond this discussion jot down this code and I’ll be able to provide you with supplemental information.
