Should Abortion Be Illegal?
"Approximately as many as 1-5 pregnancies end in an induced abortion" (World Health Organization). Seeing this fact, it can be seen that many women decide to get abortions for a multitude of reasons. So why should anyone who can't or doesn't make the choice see that this operation should be deemed illegal? So the point is that abortions should be available to women everywhere because it can help a woman's mental health, women who are raped don't have to be reminded, and this procedure is safer when performed professionally. RR-PTSD is rape related PTSD and symptoms include re-experiencing the trauma, social withdrawal (where there is no interest in their children or many emotions), avoidance behaviors and actions, or increased physiological arousal characteristics (Cheryl Ringel). Of course it is known fact that even with safe abortions there can be complications such as cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, and liver cancer, as well as infertility and death (H.L. Howe). But all medical procedures have risks, abortion is no different. Abortions have come to be an important part of today's society seeing has they are pretty common.
