Chino Hills High School is a great school with a variety of programs offered on campus. All of which are great and beneficial to the Husky students, community, and staff. One of the great programs offered is the Safe School Ambassadors program. Safe School Ambassadors is “ an ‘“ inside out” ’ approach to improving school climate… (which) relies on social norms change and the power of students to help stop bullying and violence (SSA).” One of the goals of the Husky Safe School Ambassadors is to make the Chino Hills High School campus even safer than it already is for every Husky student. Having Husky students promote and get involved in this program is amazing for CHHS. Every year Chino Hills High has a meeting for returning Husky Safe School

To establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment I model safety practices and healthy routines in an environment that supports development and growth in these areas. My goal is to provide a clean healthy environment that meets each child’s physical needs. Making sure the classroom and playground are clean and safe at all times reduces the number of injuries of children while they are in my care. One of the ways I do this is by supervising children at all times by sight and sound even during nap times. Making sure all outlets are covered so children can’t access them. I make sure inside as well as outside there is nothing children can harm themselves on such as sharp objects or small items they can choke on. I ensure that all chemicals and cleaning supplies are put away out of the reach of children or stored in locked cabinets. I am certified in First Aid and CPR, which makes me knowledgeable of caring for accidents or injuries.…

Beginning the semester with the handout titled “Safe Space in the Classroom,” written by Rica Garcia, was a great way to prepare for a positive learning experience at Richland College. I find that learning to work together in a group is challenging, especially when members of the team do not have similar goals. For example, in a group project in a World History class, the assignment was to create a presentation about an event during the Civil War. The teacher assigned the groups to divide up the work among themselves. I tried to work on my part of the assignment, but I was too distracted. During the second group meeting, we were to discuss the assigned project, but Tom, a member of my group, decided to chat about what he watched on TV the night before. Tom insisted on talking for almost the whole one-hour class period about the television show. I tried to be brave and asked Tom to get back on task, and it worked for about five minutes. Unfortunately, Tom then started talking about another episode of the television show. Because I was frustrated by the bad experiences working with my group, I agree with the suggestion from Associate Dean Paula Eschliman that students should follow the safe space guidelines in order to get more out of their educational experiences.…

I remember sitting in my second grade class on September 11th 2001, watching the news and not understanding what was going on. Our principal was walking in and out of each classroom making sure all of the students as well as teachers were remaining calm. While people often equate 9-11 with the downward spiral of the world, such disasters have been occurring long before this horrific event. Since 1980 there has been no substantial increase in the amount of overall mass murders and killing sprees in the United States (Plumer); however the number of killings in schools has rapidly increased in the past two years. Although it is not…

If I was the principle for a school I would have a safety plan for my school just in case a tornado hit the school my plan would be to have every one move into a classroom with no windows or the room is not on the outs side walls. We would move to this room and tell them to get in a designated corner as soon as a tornado was spotted we would stay there until it is over if. We would have a pre recorded message to call every parent if we had spotted a tornado. We would let all the parents know that there kid will be ok and we would not release them until the tornado is gone.…

It is important that anyone working with children should be able to recognise if a child is a t risk of harm or in need because of their vulnerability. The earlier this is recognised, the better the outcome for the child. Any childcare setting should have clear policies and procedures that cover all aspects of safeguarding. This should include policies for:…

It is important to safeguard children and young people as without this protection their future could be negatively affected. Their health and development could be impaired as its possible they could withdraw from family and peers which would affect them emotionally and also developmentally fall behind with educational milestones (if school is missed). Children and young people need to be protected from neglect and abuse and have a safe environment in which to grown up in with parents, teachers and any other close adult being approachable and accessible if needed, when/if any problem or concerns were to arise. This is all crucial in a child’s upbringing as the care they receive through their childhood will contribute to the success of the child’s ability to reach their full potential into adulthood.…

Everyday students are leaving school and getting hurt, outsiders are coming into schools and hurting students, insiders such as students and staff have also been known to hurt our school-age children and there is nothing being done about it. School is not optional; it is required by law for every child to go to school, so school should not be feared by the students it should be a safe learning environment. "More U.S. high school students are skipping class because they feel unsafe even though the general level of violence in schools has fallen since the early 1990s, federal health officials reported" (Siamo 1). Being that school safety is currently a big issue some things that need to be addressed are, what safety measures are being taken, what could be done to prevent this, and whose fault is it if students are harmed?…
