Nutrient Intake Report
When doing this project I never realized until after I did the super tracker and the nutrient intake report that I had a very unhealthy diet and that I need to make a change. My Daily Calorie Limit was 2000 and I ate 2811. When I did MyPlate it told me that I should eat at 7 ounces of grains per day with half of the grain intake being whole grains, eat three cups of vegetables, two cups of fruit, three cups of dairy, and six ounces of protein. Also I should consume no more than six teaspoons of oils per day, no more than 270 calories a day, and consume sodium intake to less than 2300 mg a day. According to the 2010 Dietary Guidelines, I should increase intake of fat free milk and milk products, increase physical activity, and choose foods that provide more potassium, dietary fiber, calcium, and vitamin D. My 24 hour intake was very off from both MyPlate and the dietary guidelines because I consumed large portions of meat and poultry and I …show more content…
I did not consume any fruits nor dairy. My intake compared to the Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Ranges match the ranges very well accept in one category. In protein the acceptable ranges is 10-35% and my average was 14%. In carbohydrate the acceptable range 45-65% and my average was 39%, I was very close but I need to change my diet so I can reach at least 45%. In fast the acceptable range is 20-35% and my average was 48% which is way over the acceptable range. According to my nutrient Intake report, the food groups I mainly consumed was refined grains, vegetables, and proteins. The food groups I ate less of was fruits and dairy. I did not meet the recommendations for fruits and dairy because in the fruits group I didn’t consume any fruits and the recommendation for it was 2 cups and in the dairy group I only consumed 1 ½ cups when I was supposed to consume at least 3

My protein target was 46 grams, and the first and third day shows that I went over what I was supposed to eat, but the second day I was under the target amount. My lipid target was between 20%-35%, and again the first and third day indicates that I went over the target amount. The second day shows that I was in the range for the amount of lipids needed. Since my carbohydrates and proteins were outside of the range, I probably would have removed the five pieces of chicken strips, the five chocolate chip cookies, the four macaroon…

Other than my Cholesterol being high, I am actually right on track with the other Nutrients and Minerals. My Carbohydrates are “okay” as it say’s. I drink a lot of sports drinks so I think that’s the reason it is okay. My protein is also “okay”, I drink protein shakes everyday that I use with weight training. My total fat is “okay” as well, I try to stay away from fatty foods but It can be hard some times. When I think I need something, which I know, has a lot of fat I grab a protein bar. Which also helps with my total percent of protein. My Saturated fat is over the limit I should have. I don’t really think Saturated fats are bad but I am not a doctor. Saturated fats are derived from animal products such as meat, dairy and eggs. But they are also found in some plant-based sources such as coconut, palm and palm kernel oils. For minerals my Sodium levels are also over the target. My target…

During the 5 day span I met the calorie requirement of 2850 in daily food intake due to my high activity level. I pretty much had a balanced diet in terms of having each food group represented in my daily intake. I plan on to keeping my muscle mass, so I pretty much had a diet plan before. But going through the calorie tracker in the website made me realize that I was eating too much junk food than intended. It really didn’t have any adverse on my physique due to my early mentioned level of activity but by cutting down on my junk food intake for the week I was recording this log I was able to enjoy good wholesome food, without spending a lot of money in college cafeteria. Not only was I able to do this I was able to feel…

In comparison to the Dietary Reference Intakes, my protein intake was below recom-mended range (too low). One way to achieve the recommended DRI protein range goal is by ei-ther increasing the portion size of fish fillet or servings of baked chicken. My carbohydrate intake was below the recommended range (too low). One way to achieve the recommended carbo-hydrate range goal is by increasing the amount of grain, such as toast or biscuits, to eat for break-fast. Another way is by increasing the amount of dairy products; drinking 2%…

The results for my new diet when compared to the recommendations from the SuperTracker are very bad indeed. I am not eating enough grains, vegetables, fruits, dairy or protein foods. An average for the amount of grains I consumed was 6 and a half ounces which is 2 servings each of these days. I consumed one and a half cup of fruits and vegetables which is about 2 servings on Saturday. I did not eat any other fruit during this three day period. I also consumed a quarter cup of dairy. From the proteins foods group, I consumed 2 and a half ounces and from the oils groups which is not a serving at all, but when this measured is about 2 teaspoons.…

The basic Bar graph report compared my intake values to the recommended intake values for my age, gender and activity level; overall, the comparative bar charts showed that for most of the values, I was close to the recommended amounts. However, a few nutrients that I was over consuming were protein, saturated fat, cholesterol, and vitamins B2 and B12. Other than cholesterol, all the consumption values for the other nutrients were at 200% or more. For vitamin B2 and B12, this was not too concerning, because no upper limit for these vitamins have been set yet, for toxic side effects from these vitamins have yet to be documented. The high levels of saturated fats and cholesterol in my diet most likely stem from the high amount of animal products (milk, cheese, and meat) that I consume. The overconsumption of these nutrients can increase my blood cholesterol levels, and increase my risk for cardiovascular disease. Though as I discovered through my blood analysis, I have optimal levels of blood cholesterol, which I believe is because I am an active person, and exercise regularly. With regular exercise, my muscles will be using ATP, which is produced from saturated fats, so by exercising my…

The results from my three day intake some of the food s in my recorded daily intake that provided protein were bananas, burrito, Popeye’s chicken, pizza hut stuffed crust, whole milk, spitz sunflower seeds, Cheeseburger, chocolate muffin just about everything I ate had protein in it my Carbohydrates were hand and hand with my protein the list was the same as for the lips it was also pretty close to the others my food intake is nothing close to the Dri mine were way above the standard I can improve by cutting out all the fast food its killing me according to DRI and I need to drink a lot more water or foods with more moisture. I eat more complete proteins but really lack the incomplete this is important to know because there needs to be a good balance between the two one shouldn’t be too far away from the other not being this way could cause some serious health issues high cholesterol obesity and even death. I was very surprised by my numbers I received because I’ve never really thought about what I ate until now my carbohydrates protein and lipids intake was almost double what it should be to fix this problem I would have to cut out a lot of fast food and drink plenty more water and let go of some of the snacks I eat and replace them with a fruit or something a lot more healthy than my usually choices.…

    Essay On Diet Analysis

I consumed .7 cup of the recommended value of three cups and not one cup. I need to add a lot more vegetables within my diet and maybe just little less in protein to have a balance of nutrients. I do not eat close to the recommended value. Even though this was a three day experiment, the data I believed would have been a lot closer. For the Myplate category for fruits, I am very close to the recommended value of two cups daily. I consumed 1.2 cups to the recommend value of three cups. I do not think I need to make a drastic change since I am only a half a cup a way in the fruit portion. The last focus on my plate is my dairy consumption. I am not supposed to have any dairy in my diet so this is going to be the hardest for me to meet the recommendations. Dairy is the main source of calcium (book quote). Dairy is connected with getting enough calcium for our bone strength. Since I do not get enough I can develop bone fragility or osteoporosis (Calcium, 2015). To make up for the nutrients I am losing without having dairy in my diet I can add nutrients such as canned salmon that contains 181mg of calcium in a 3 oz. portion (book page). I need to adjust my diet to make sure I am getting the benefits from each of the MyPlate food groups. Below is the chart collected on my data for MyPlate…
