3 Day Food Intake
SCI/220
FEBUARY 11, 2012

The results from my three day intake some of the food s in my recorded daily intake that provided protein were bananas, burrito, Popeye’s chicken, pizza hut stuffed crust, whole milk, spitz sunflower seeds, Cheeseburger, chocolate muffin just about everything I ate had protein in it my Carbohydrates were hand and hand with my protein the list was the same as for the lips it was also pretty close to the others my food intake is nothing close to the Dri mine were way above the standard I can improve by cutting out all the fast food its killing me according to DRI and I need to drink a lot more water or foods with more moisture. I eat more complete proteins but really lack the incomplete this is important to know because there needs to be a good balance between the two one shouldn’t be too far away from the other not being this way could cause some serious health issues high cholesterol obesity and even death. I was very surprised by my numbers I received because I’ve never really thought about what I ate until now my carbohydrates protein and lipids intake was almost double what it should be to fix this problem I would have to cut out a lot of fast food and drink plenty more water and let go of some of the snacks I eat and replace them with a fruit or something a lot more healthy than my usually choices.

How does your diet compare to the recommendations you received from the Food Guide Pyramid? I just recently decided that I was going to start eating healthier. I am not on a diet! That is just too much stress. However, I have made quite a bit of progress with changing how I eat. The recommendation that I got were not that off of what I’m trying to accomplish. I need to eat more fruit and vegetables. I have been doing well with the grain and fiber intake. I need to do better with my sodium intake, which is still a little high, but is much lower than what I used to consume.…

The results for my new diet when compared to the recommendations from the SuperTracker are very bad indeed. I am not eating enough grains, vegetables, fruits, dairy or protein foods. An average for the amount of grains I consumed was 6 and a half ounces which is 2 servings each of these days. I consumed one and a half cup of fruits and vegetables which is about 2 servings on Saturday. I did not eat any other fruit during this three day period. I also consumed a quarter cup of dairy. From the proteins foods group, I consumed 2 and a half ounces and from the oils groups which is not a serving at all, but when this measured is about 2 teaspoons.…

My one day food intake is a typical daily intake on any given or an average day for me. Before taking this class I had thought about changing my health and food habits but never followed through on any plan. At first iProfile was frightening but once the facts started to flow and information was displayed, I began to welcome the results. The biggest eye opener was that so many foods have so many types of nutrients in them and after looking at my results for one-day it is very apparent for an individual to have a variety of food in their diet. Listed below are the results of my one day food intake:…

I am not a picky eater or one who watches what I eat. I enjoy cooking and I love to eat food that is bad for me. My favorite meal is fried pork chops, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, turnip greens and corn bread. I am from the south where we use food as a comfort item. When we are happy, sad, mad or just board we eat. We have festivals to celebrate the food we eat. My diet is way off the SuperTrackers recommendations. I eat mainly one meal a day sometimes two. I do not eat a lot of fresh fruits. I need to stop drinking so many soft drinks and I should take out the sugar in my tea. I consumed little to no fresh fruits on a daily basis. I eat a lot of protein, but still not what I should eat daily I only ate around 40% of what I should have. One thing I should do is eat more of the good foods and do less snacking during the day. I am going to make myself a promise to eat at least one fresh fruit a day. I went and bought strawberries and cantaloupe so I can eat a little better. I know this is only a small fix and will only work if I stick to it. I can start to measure my food portions so I do not over eat. This will help me watch the amount of fats and starches that I take in. I love broccoli and could eat more of it, it is full of fiber and nutrients that are good for me.…

Grains, vegetables, dairy, and oils were all food groups where I consumed under the suggested value, while fruits and protein based products were items in which I consumed over the suggested value. The areas where I consumed under the recommended value, excluding the dairy food group, were only under the target value by an average of 2 ounces. My dairy consumption was nonexistent because I typically don’t consume these particular products, and substitute dairy based sources with items such as almond milk. In order to increase my dairy consumption I plan to consume soy milk instead of almond milk, and see the beneficial gains associated with doing so. I was able to meet and exceed my fruit and protein consumption however, by an average of 3.5 ounces. I generally do not eat beef, pork, or chicken products, and have trouble finding affordable and convenient sources of protein, however after examining the completed results I discovered that I have no trouble meeting my target protein value, which was some what of a surprise to me.…

“There 's a lot on MyPlate, but there shouldn 't be” (Amarante, June 05, 2011, expression 1). My essay will cover the recorded nutrient report from the foods that a typical college student had eaten during in the past three days. The web-based nutrient report that the college student used to record his meals was from MyPlate. “MyPlate is the current nutrition guide published by the United States Department of Agriculture, depicting a place setting with a plate and glass divided into five food groups.[1] It replaced the USDA 's MyPyramid guide on June 2, 2011, ending 19 years of USDA food pyramid diagrams.[2] MyPlate will be displayed on food packaging and used in nutrition education in the United States”("MyPlate," 2011, p. 1). The report basis a calorie count should not exceed 2600 calories for a male who is 43 and exercises at a minimum of 30 minutes daily. The student can determine his dietary reference intake (DRI) sum of each nutrient calculated, enabling him to know when he is over or under his target of 2600 daily calories.…
