Future Trends in Health Education

Objectives:

a. Be able to know some future trends in health education in the coming years.

b. Be able to describe four major societal changes that will influence the practice of health education into the next century.

c. Be able to know some statistics regarding information related to the practice of health education in the future.

d. Be able to explain how demographic changes will impact health education delivery into the future.

Insight:

By just reading the title it gave me an idea of what I would expect regarding the topic. My topic talks about the trends regarding the practice of health education in the future. We sometimes hear that change, in this world, is constant and that is also true in the practice of health education. Demographics and societal trends play some part in this change. While reading this topic, I was having a hard time conceptualizing on how to report this topic because it does not deal with specific concepts, where you just need to define them. As I said earlier, this contains statistics which shows trends and sometimes comparison. Changes can be found in the statistics discussed and mostly are found in every topic of my report. By using these statistics, it can give a clear idea of what we should expect in the future.

Introduction

Today, people now have a growing interest when it comes to their health. In the past years, there had been a different approach in how health education is practiced compared to now where there had been a lot of changes. In line with these changes, health educators must explore future developments regarding the practice of health education/promotion. The following factors plays a role in health education:

I. Demographic Changes

• Demographic profile – the breakdown of the population by age group.

• Population growth rate in USA increased by 1% per year over the past 30 years.

    The trends that have directly impact are the chronic illness, obesity, diabetes, aging, smoking, health care spending, other diseases that could reduce life expectancy, and maybe living a little longer. As we see the result on rise which is obesity which we have unhealthy people who are not eating the right foods, which can lead to diabetes and many more chronic diseases. Obesity is on the rise, because what we eat and that we are not being educated on the things that will harm your body or we chose not to get help from a doctor. Not only Obesity on the rise we have smokers that are obese, or diabetes is smoking and they are at a higher risk than a non-smoker. Another rise is that we hear more about people dying from cancer, and having strokes.…
