Motivational and Organizational Culture
The role management should play in the workplace psychology according to Ayame Nakamura situation. Even though she is a manager, she has a manager, and that person should approach Ayame with respect for her different cultural background. Although Ayame may feel inferior, due to the confrontational nature of the job. Do not let that stop you, because there should be a barrier broken with a big respect for diversity. A manager over another manager should be able to praise the manager on the good things that they are doing for the company. So the manager will in return be able to reward and motivate the employees that she supervise. Ayame should be able to feel the same as anyone else in the workplace regardless of what Ayame background is. Psychological well-being is the key to a healthy workplace setting. Ayame should feel appreciated, then her employees will reap the benefits of her well- being. As a manager Ayame should show positive attitudes to her employees so they will see and know they are and will be appreciated for their hard work. A company that does not have good employees would not be a successful business to begin with. Ayame should show team work, to keep up with her motivation, and to show her employees that it is important to work together to keep the business growing. Everyone has something to give to the company just by playing as a team.
Ayame’s cultural background may affect the way she receives feedback because she might be expected to be timid or shy, so her manager may expect a lot from her. The extra pressure could make her unsure of herself. Her ability to perform her duties at her best performance can be affected by the bad treatment of her superior, and could also have a ripple effect if she were to take the same mistreatment out on her employees that she oversees. Who want to work somewhere where you are always accused of wrong doings, but the good is never seen. My grandma always told me, “How can you build something up that you’re always tearing down”. Which takes me to some tips that will help Ayame build her and her employees motivation. Her cultural background, as far as her language could also affect the feedback she would receive. The language barrier could have a negative effect on the communication in the workplace. That can easily be solved by just taking the time to listen to what someone is saying or trying to say. Put yourself in someone else shoes , How would you feel if language was a barrier for you and you had to explain yourself to someone and they cared not to listen because they could barely understand you. I personally like cultural diversity in the workplace there is so much you can learn about different cultural background and their work ethic. Different cultural background should always be welcomed and respected in all workplaces.
She can make a list to remind her and her employees’ everyday of their daily goals, and accomplishments on a daily basis. People feel better when they know exactly what they need to do. Organization will help save time on a project. Always congratulate and celebrate with your employees to let them know that they are appreciated, even if the accomplishment does not seem to be that big of a deal. Give your employees flexibility, be considerate your employees are human things happen, it helps manage life a little better. Maybe a person cannot work the same schedule every week. A single parent with kids really need flexibility. Its helps so you can balance work and home life. Some of these tip will help Ayame increase her own motivation and the motivation of her employees. Ayame can give the employees a chance to advance or grow within the company, so the employees will not feel like they are stuck in a dead in job. There should be equal opportunities of advancement to any employee that wants it bad enough. That really would motivate me to work harder to progress. I like applying old saying, “The harder you work the more you get”.

    In workplace psychology management’s role should be to motivate employees and get the tasks completed. Managers are a key in the workplace; they are role models for the employees. Managers should keep a professional relationship with employees but not be so strict that their employees are scared to ask for help or talk about what they need. The key to being able to talk to managers is a positive for managers and employees. It tells the manager what the employee needs to be motivated and always the manager to know where the employee is. Managers keep some of the pressure of the upper level managers and owners. Motivating employees is a key part of management because it helps get the job done and keep the employees happy. If an employee is not motivated and unhappy with their job then they will not do a good job and their work becomes sloppy, eventually they will quit. In workplace psychology employees have the role of carrying out tasks and helping the company become successful. Employees need a clearly defined task, adequate working environment, motivation, and feedback. I the case of Ayame Nakamura, managers need to talk with her to understand her work style and how she can be motivated to do her best. Each person is different and coming from a non-confrontational culture Ayame needs to work in a non-confrontational environment. Her managers need to give her positive feedback so she knows what she is doing right. Being told what she is doing right and wrong in a positive, non-confrontational way may boost Ayame’s motivation, and she may enjoy work again (Robbins, DeCenzo, & Coulter, 2011).…

    1. What is the relationship between an institutional system and an organizational culture? The process when an “organization takes on a life of its own, apart from its founders or members, and acquires immortality” is called institutionalization by Robbins and Judge. That means that the organization in itself does not change even if the founder dies or important managers leave the company, it will remain basically the same in the future as it has been in the past. Furthermore, these institutions influence the behavior and make some actions more understood than they perhaps should be. For example a very authoritarian management behavior that obstructs innovations and harms the external view on the company, but is tolerated by the entrepreneur as he acts in the same way. Even though a company may have achieved its original goals, it will continue its business with new goals if it is institutionalized. Organizational culture can be defined as “a system of shared meaning held by members that distinguishes the organization from other organizations”. This shows that every organization is different because of its values that origin from the organization’s founders and from the employees who are specifically selected in consideration of these values. Robbins and Judge identify seven primary characteristics to describe a culture: innovation and risk taking, attention to detail, outcome orientation, people orientation, team orientation, aggressiveness and stability. It is vital for a company to have a matching culture to the means of an organization: for instance should a high-technology firm not be afraid of risk-taking and ought to give high attention to detail and team orientation; a retailer in a very competitive market should rather be outcome oriented and does not necessarily have to be very innovative.
