Project 1: Mission, Vision, Social Responsibility, and Strategic Planning

Using the companies' investor Web sites, find the mission statement for each of the two companies and prepare a short comparison. In addition, comment on the quality of each mission statement based on what we are learning about mission statements. Does the mission statement clearly define the organization and help it make strategic decisions? What needs improvement?  

How about the "vision" of the two companies? Do the companies appear to be heading in the same direction?  
Using your research, discuss and compare at least two of the following for the two companies selected:  
1. How does each of the two companies address the issue of social responsibility? 2. What is the global nature of the two companies? Use the information from chapter 5 to discuss whether the companies are domestic, international, or multinational, and provide information to support your conclusions. 3. What ethical or legal challenges are your companies facing? 4. Prepare a SWOT analysis for one of the two companies you selected, including at least two strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.  

The final paper should be between five and seven pages long, double spaced, in addition to a cover page and a bibliography. You should use the APA format for citations and bibliography. You are required to use the company investor Web sites and at least two academic or highly respected business publications, for a total of no less than four references.
