1.1 First of all I would like to say that I have been working in School for more than two years already and I am enjoying it very much. This school is one of very good schools in the area with a lovely, friendly and caring environment. Currently I am working voluntary two days per week in Year 1.My main duty is to work with teacher to establish an appropriate learning environment. I am there to help some pupils to understand and to follow teacher`s instructions; to encourage pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage small groups in activities; to support pupils consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs: to establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model; to help teacher to prepare the classroom for the lesson or to tidy up after session and very important one to me is to ensure the pupils hygiene and safety all the time during the school hours. All these duties, I believe, fitting well with my school`s job description. Please refer to the attachment number 1.

I am a voluntary classroom assistant in a Primary school, mixed year group 1 and 2 class. The class does not have a paid teaching assistant and I am therefore fortunate with my involvement in the classroom. I work in partnership with the classroom teacher and student teacher in preparing and delivering learning activities. For example, I ensure that the correct children’s books are ready alongside any other learning resources required. Whilst the classroom teacher is teaching I ensure that the children are not distracted and are behaving in line with the golden rules. I sit with the children and quietly re focus them if required. I am responsible for various groups of children when they are doing their learning exercises. This includes ensuring they understand the work set, supporting them in completing set work and managing their behaviour. I also do 1 on 1 reading, whereby I take individual children to the library and give them my full attention with no distractions. I write in their reading log books and change their…

It is important to maintain a safe environment for students inside and outside of the classroom. My goal is to make sure that the children understand what being safe is. I make sure that they know how to play safe. All of the toys and the materials that the children use are safe. I make sure that there are no broken toys that may harm them around. The children along with me create the class rules. I make sure that the outlet plugs are in place and that the cabinets are secure. The children follow the classroom rules. I make sure that I supervise the children at all times. I also make sure that I observe the areas where they play, work, and eat. I make sure that shoes are tied. I make sure that the children use walking feet when we walk down the halls and in the classroom. When we transition to go outside we have to cross over an area where the cars drive. We make sure that we stop, look, and listen for cars and put out caution cones before we go to the playground. I also check the playground for sticks, trash, glass or any other items that can cause harm. I am also CPR certified so I know the procedure to help a child or adult in need. We have emergency plans displayed in the classroom. The children are aware of what to do in the case of emergency such as a fire. We make sure that the windows and the doors are secure at the end of the day.…

1.1 Teaching assistants should be a lot more actively involved in delivering learning activities. This may be by setting up the room with the correct resources before the lesson takes place and laying out the tables and chairs etc. One to one support may be needed for some pupils; this should have been discussed before the lesson. It may be that the T.A is put to work with one specific table/group of children or just float around the classroom and be available if any of the children ask for help. It would be most likely that after the activity the T.A would pack resources and work away while…
