How Does Football Affect Time?
over the course or this year, i've written many essays and multiple cornell notes. Throughout the year i've found myself in modest improvement. In the future, i believe that i can make minor corrections to grammatical errors and set goals for the up and coming essays and prompts. My writing recording sheet shows the many fluctuations of my writing grade. My year starts off with an okay start, and then towards the middle, my grades started to plummet. I would attribute that to my lack of focus in proofreading and properly checking my work. Over my last few assignments, I have been marked off for things that I could have easily attained point. During the start of the year, recording my mistakes down did really benefit me in my future assignments, but there would always be times where a mistake would slip through my proofreading. At most times, it would be my header where I might have forgotten my title, had too much spacing, or etc. Towards the end of the year, I kind-of fell off from recording in great detail as I started…

In the 3rd week of class, I experienced the pain of regret as my concentration level had dwindled, and this was solely because I was busy surfing the net on my phone, playing video games, chatting on Facebook, and snap chating. I could gain access to D2L and the course material via my cell phone, nonetheless I was easily distracted. The 4th week of class, I wrote my very first essay, and I was precisely disappointment at my writing skills; I could not apply proper punctuation's, and at that point I was a step closer to dropping out of…

Secondly, I have chosen three items, namely, cause, contrast and argument paragraph. Those are three topics that I have written the most recently. They can show my improvements in writing paragraph skills. In these items, I want to improve many things such as ways of using comma splice, how to use words more reasonable and widening my ideas. Actually, I have not had good performance in this semester. I have made many mistakes. I used grammar uncorrectly or used wrong verds’ position as well as adjective and noun. My ideas are not often clear and limited, so my writing is very boring without much creativity and many evidences. Besides, because I now base on Internet so much, it seems to be difficult for me to make new ideas and write at class, which results in the fact that my paragraph isnot perfect and good. Sometimes I really feel depressed and donot know what I should do. Thanks to my writing teacher, however, I have improved quite a lot. For example, I donot use wrong phrases “such as”, “ result in” and so on and adjectives’ position as well as how to use comma splice in contrast and…

My strengths and weaknesses have changed since the beginning of the year. One thing that did not change was my ability to work under pressure. I learned that I write best when I have the pressure of the essay being due soon. This can be a double-edge sword since it causes me to write fewer words in a week than in one day before the assignment is due. Because of this, I generate fake deadlines to speed up my writing process. I discovered a weakness of not being able to write down the words onto the paper; using a mentally placed deadline, I have no other option than to just throw the words onto the paper. Also, another weakness of mine…

The main problem students have with writing essays is not knowing how to manage their time well. Often times, we procrastinate because we choose to do other things instead. Given a 1-2 week time period to complete an essay seems like a lot of time until procrastination takes over. Writer's block, and distractions are a huge contribution to procrastinating as well. Sometimes you just don't know where to start when you write an essay, or your ideas and words may not flow together. You'll try over, and over again but it just doesn't sound right. As a result, you become discouraged and leave it to do “later.” Instead of trying to write your essay, you get distracted by your phone, favorite show, or computer. This easily makes “later” become the night before it's due, and by then we're struggling to cram in all of the other homework we have to do still.…

The beginning of high school I was a seed in English class. I was not particularly good at English and had doubts on whether I should ask the teacher to move me down to the college prep class. Just like a seed, I was a plain little student sitting in an honors class. Maybe from last year’s English class, I was fully aware my writing was not anything special. That was what I thought because I compared myself to my friends, but for sure, one thing I was positive was that writing was my strength in English rather than vocabulary and reading comprehension. With a portfolio with all my past essays in front of me on my desk, I flipped through it. I noticed that my essays were not well-organized, and I had trouble with structuring my essays. However, at the same time, I saw that I had a variety of transitions, and clear topic sentences. The topic sentences were not creative because it was in a basic format, but I knew she could work on that the upcoming year. Thanks to the portfolio that my teacher handed out at the start of the school year, I was able to realize that my writing can change and believed that if I put time and effort through the year, my writing may become a flower one day and bloom beautifully. I sat down in that classroom, day after day, learning new ways to improve. Eventually, almost a year of 9th grade passed.…

During this quarter, I believe I accomplished all my goals. First, I took one-two hours a night Monday thru Thursday and three-four hours a night Friday thru Saturday to do homework and studying. Second, I gained a lot of refreshers from being out of school for sixteen years and achieved a 92% and above in English 085 with better writing skills at an English 101 level so that I could advance at the end of the quarter, which I did. Third, was to focus in the middle of this quarter on what I needed to do next to achieve my steps over the next two quarters: what classes I need to take and which classes would be smart to take each quarter so that none of my classes clash and put me behind, which I have done. Looking back on these goals that I made at the beginning of the quarter, I know I will still work towards my future goals the same way, but without being so hard on myself and by starting…
