History of Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd.

For generations, Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd has made it business to supply quality diary and infant nutrition products to the nation, until it is listed as the leading diary producer in Malaysia. The company was formerly known as Pacific Milk industries (Malaya) Sdn Bhd in 1963, was incorporated with the commissioning of a sweetened condensed milk factory. The story begins in 50’s, which after world war 2, sweetened condensed milk was imported wholesale from its parent company in Holland via local importers and wholesellers. A trading company Friesland (Malaya) Pte. Ltd, was formed to market sweetened condensed milk imported from Holland in Malaya and Singapore. Dutch Baby brand was one of the several brands that they produced. Since that, Pacific Milk Industries (Malaya) Sdn Bhd starts incorporated in Malaysia.

The factory of Pacific Milk Industries (Malaya) Sdn Bhd, was operated and started to manufacture sweetened condensed milk and it was converted to a public company, and become first company to be listed on the Stock Exchange of Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. During 70’s,the name of Pacific Milk Industries (Malaya) Sdn Bhd, has been changed to Dutch Baby Milk Industries (Malaya) Berhad, to avoid confusion in the trade and market place surrounding the name of the company and its main product which is Dutch Baby sweetened Condensed Milk. In addition, company also introduced a fruit juice drink with a brand named Joy.

The brand name also changed from Dutch Baby to Dutch Lady for product positioning reasons, and Dutch Lady pasteurized milk was launched, yoghurt and growing up milk also were introduced during 80’s. The company became more stable and new warehouse was built to accommodate the company’s business. Human capital also started to expand in line with organizational needs. Company becomes stronger when it obtained few certification along its journey.
