Belief is the physchological state in which an individual holds a proposition or premise to be true. Beliefs are stubborn but can be changed in the face of overwhelming evidence.
Individuals operating within social or cultural systems learn the important values of that group. If they accept and live those values the majority of the time, they will be able to exist in that group and depend on group membership when seeking necessary resources. If they do not accept or display the majority of these values, they risk being cast out and cannot depend on group support when needed.
This study gives the family a chance to really examine their thoughts and feelings and its relevance to their lives. Family values and beliefs are able to make profound connections between the real world and their private lives.
