Ellen Moore (a): Living and Working in Korea

just a case of interpreting others actions, it is also a case on creating the situations through interactions among the Koreans and the North Americans over time. It is easy to see the gender issues in the management problem, but here too, it is important to see the other underlying cultural interpretive schemes that are working. The case provides a nice bit on the role of Confucian ideas to help on this. The case is also interesting because it shows how a very popular western idea, teams, needs to be modified and limited in outer cultures. Issues of communication, differing expectations, and personality also come into play. Here are some questions for our discussion.

He aquí algunas preguntas para nuestro debate.

She blamed the culture, the culture, which scolds the minority tongue. She described this kind of behavior as “Linguistic Terrorism”. She finally can trust herself, “Chicano Spanish is not incorrect, it is a living language.” (Anzaldua 35).
