I am concerned that we, as a country, are not doing near enough to sufficiently aid victims fleeing the wildly oppressive Syrian government, as well as refugees fleeing other religiously oppressive regimes. The United States has always been a major supporter of human and civil rights. Since World War II the United States’ government has generally taken in over 50% of resettlement cases, however of the approximate 130,000 Syrian refugees the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, or UNHCR has attempted to resettle, the United States has only taken about 800…

Many governments and intergovernmental organizations rely on nongovernmental organizations to implement their decisions in areas such as humanitarian relief and economic development. Humanitarian aid and cash donations for Haiti's earthquake victims have been pouring in after the disaster took place. Though useless goods can clog the humanitarian chain of supplying the affected populations with the necessities regardless of the generous intent, requiring the United Nations humanitarian relief agencies to restrict the types of humanitarian goods that are accepted and establish a process that certifies and regulate the type of aid that is accepted.…

Besides our economic crisis, we also have many environmental issues occurring today. Kazakhstan has many radioactive or toxic chemical sites associated with former defense industries and test ranges. This causes a large amount of health risk for not only humans, but animals as well. In some cities, industrial pollution is very bad because the Aral Sea is drying up and leaving a harmful layer of chemical pesticides and natural salts. Then once there are dust storms, the chemicals get picked up by the strong winds and are carried into other cities. Besides the Aral Sea, there are also some problems in the Caspian Sea. The overuse of agricultural chemicals is causing pollution in the soil. Also, we occasionally get some natural hazards like earthquakes in the south and mudslides in Almaty. In our huge but disastrous environment, we have many natural resources and are willing to share in return for aid. We really do need help making our country a cleaner and safer place for humans and animals.…

The unstable political and socio-economic situation in most former Soviet republics, and namely Kazakhstan, is expressed in economic crisis significantly affecting the whole state. Citizens are put in the conditions where one could survive relying only on own abilities and hoping for the best future. The ways in which people living in the period of crisis of 1990s experienced it could be classified in three main categories: unemployment, depreciation of money and provision scarcity. Each of them stem from certain changes happening in the system and society that time, and each of them lead to particular consequences also affecting the society.…

The aid that we give can save lives in times of disaster! Giving aid can help to reconstruct livings and housing after a disaster. Aid can also provide medical training, medicines and equipment. This will improve health and standards of living because in other countries, medical care is very expensive and not very good. It is hard for them to get well trained staff, and the right equipment so if another country can provide this for them, they can give better quality medical attention to more people and for less money. This will save many lives because in a poor country, some people cannot afford to get help and they die, or they get attention but it is not helpful because they don’t have well trained staff, or the right medicine and equipment. Aid for agriculture will increase food production and the quality and quantity of food available. This will also improve health and standards of living for the people who don’t have food because there will be more available. Aid for industrial development will not only improve transport organisation, but it will also create jobs for those who are jobless and who need money for their families.…
