First Steps
Before you begin working through this workbook, please write your name and qualification title in the spaces provided on the front cover. -------------------------------------------------

This workbook has been developed to assist you with your learning to achieve a unit towards your qualification. Your qualification, which is on the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF), is made up of units, each with their own credit value; some units might be worth 2 credits, some might have 4 credits, and so on. Each credit represents a number of hours of learning, usually 10 hours per credit, and so gives you an idea of how long the unit will take to work through. The Awarding Organisation for your qualification requires that you gather evidence from a range of sources. This means that, in addition to completing this workbook, you should also find other ways to gather evidence; which could be observed activity, additional research or written reflection – your tutor will discuss these activities with you and help you to plan your learning. To pass your qualification, you need to achieve all of the learning outcomes and/or performance criteria for each unit. Your qualification will contain essential units as well as some optional units. You’ll need to complete a certain amount of units with the correct credit value to achieve your qualification. Your tutor will support you throughout the process and is on hand to answer your questions and provide guidance when you need it. Learning Plan
