Compare and contrast between WiMAX and LTE
Write a paper to compare and contrast between WIMAX and LTE

I. INTRODUCTIONS 4G stand for fourth generation network for mobile communication. It is better as compare to 3G or 2G network. It provides ultra broadband internet access from USB wireless modem to laptops and to other mobile devices. The two most important technologies for 4G network are WIMAX and LTE.

Basic Requirement for 4G
International Telecommunication Union Had specified various type of requirement for 4G standard. Peak speed should be at 1 Gigabit per second for low mobility and 100 megabit per second for high mobility connection. High mobility connection speed mean like when the user is on the moving object which is moving at high speed like train, car ,bus where as the low mobility mean that when the user is walking along the road or move very slow.
II. WHAT IS LTE?
A. LTE(Long Term Evolution)

LTE stand for Long Term Evolution is one of the 4G standards for wireless data communication. It is based on the UMTS/HSPA and GSM/EDGE technologies. It aim at increasing the speed and capacity using difference radio frequency together. The standard of LTE is developed by 3GPP.LTE was first propose by DoCoMo of Japan in the year 2005 and The first LTE was launched to public in OSLO and Stockholm on 14 December 2009.World famous wireless carrier like Verizon wireless launched it first LTE network in North America in 2010.Airtel launched LTE in India in the month of April 2012. The goal of LTE was to increase the capacity and speed of wireless data network by using new technology which is call Digital Signal Processing(DSP) techniques which was developed around the turn of the millennium.LTE network interface is not compatible with 3G and 2G networks so it have to be work on separate wireless spectrum.LTE provide scalable carrier bandwidth from 1.4 Mega Hertz to 20 Mega Hertz and it also support both Time division multiplexing and Frequency division multiplexing. It also

A 4G system is expected to provide a communication technology based on Internet Protocol. Internet protocol or IP is generally used in the computer networks for data communication among computers. All the devices are identified by a number called IP number. In 4G network this concept is extended to telephony with an intention to make data and voice communication integrated in the same architecture. The 4G network is supposed to facilitate a Gigabit speed i.e. a speed of 100+ Mega Bytes per second with a mobile node speed of up to 200km/hr. It will enable Internet access, IP…

Since the introduction of the first mobile phone in 1924, there has been a steady climb in developing and enhancing, the mobile phone and its supporting technologies. The cellular network infrastructures as well as service providers have been hard at work; in making sure they are providing the best service as well as devices. The infrastructure alone has gone through several life cycles. Which is required in order providers to keep up with growth and technology changes. Wireless cellular providers, at one point offered services that ran off analog frequencies. Today the wireless networks are built off of an all-digital network, which is considered to be in its 3rd generation. 3rd generation technologies include GSM, GPRS, UMTS and CDMA.…

How much faster is 4G compared against 3G? The speed of 3G networks depends on how they are implemented. By 2010 Verizon (a CDMA network) had reached the limits of its 3G network speed in the United States. 4G networks allowed Verizon the ability to offer transmission speeds up to four times faster than its current 3G network. AT&T’s 3G network, however, is based on GSM. The GSM design left AT&T room to upgrade its current 3G speeds. “…it is anticipated that when AT&T upgrade[s] their 3G networks, their speeds will become comparable to 4G from…Verizon. Initial release is designed for WiMax system for securing a wireless communications network for fixed devices (as an alternative to the system home DSL connection). While newer system has been designed to support roaming between feature towers. WiMax depends on broadcast signal on the OFDM technology (communication system with orthogonal frequency). But the International Telecommunications Union launched the 4G label on the LTE protocol (long-term system developer) and which is still under development and it is possible to exceed the speed of the speed of the third generation and a half in the transfer of information up to 14 times The following table shows comparisons between some key parameters of 3G Vs possible 4G systems.…

The 4G telecommunication systems is the one which is used most recently. The 5th generation or the 5G technology and services are now being developed. Currently, the 5G technology for cellular systems is in its early development stages. Improvements that might be seen with 5G technology include far better levels of connectivity and coverage. The term World Wide Wireless Web or WWWW is being coined for this. 5G technology has the following new methods like: to provide high data rates available over a wide area of the cell, provide ad-hoc wireless networks for much speedier data flow, limit interference and improve overall cell capacity using smart antennas.…
