'Compare And Contrast And The Veldt'
In the science fiction short story The Veldt by Ray Bradbury and the song “The Veldt” by Deadmau5, the plot is parallel since the children are savagely kill their parents due to their dependence upon technology which is determined to the children's minds/psyche. For instance, in the song line 12 “The world that the children made" in other word this explains that the children made their own world revolving around technology. The song and the short story have the same motif that technology, can become unhealthy. The quote from the song that helps me understand the plot is “we will never leave/look at us now” (line 8-9). Basically, the song describes that the kids can't be without technology and will do anything to keep it. From the song quote,

When you compare The Hunt of the Unicorn and Tar Beach you will see many similarities that are visible to the eye without doing any research. The first of which is the dark backgrounds. They both have lighter colors in them that make the picture stand out, but a majority of the colors are dark. They are calm and flow well there is not a lot happening in each piece of art. In each there is one piece that is a little active. In the Hunt of the Unicorn, the unicorn is in motion, and in Tar Beach the girl is flying across the bridge.…

Imagine a world with homes that have a mind of their own. Psyche Estates that make living seem remarkably easy and simple, possibly too simple(lead in). In “The Veldt” by Ray Bradbury, there is such thing as a house that does everything for their owner; cleans, cooks, dresses, and even has a nursery for children. The baker in “A Small Good Thing” by Raymond Carver caught my attention from the beginning of the story. He was abrupt with Ann, but it felt like there were reasons that would be explained soon why he was this way. The initial impression I got from him wasn’t likeable but as I got further into the story, there was a spark of compassion in this man that I could relate to. The bakers harassing tendencies and social isolation as a person are not traits I exhibit, where as his strong sense of compassion and emotion is where I can relate more to.…

The most interesting short stories that caught my undivided attention were: “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, and “Jealous Husband Returns in Form of Parrot” by Robert Olen Butler. These stories were both fascinating and intriguing in the sense that they made me feel like if I was the actual character. You could feel the pain and anguish the characters felt, even the desperation. It got to a point that I felt pity for the protagonist whom in both stories where narrating. Here we can see how someone can feel so desperate that they think the only way out is by taking their lives. Both Charlotte Perkins Gilman and Robert Olen Butler created an incredible form of fiction that makes you question if the scenes in the stories can truly happen in reality.…

In both Essays “Just Walk On By” by Brent Staples and “The Myth Of The Latin Women” by Judith Coffer, both authors talked about how people stereotyped in the world especially by self situations. But to me there’s a difference between thinking your being stereotyped to misunderstanding. Both of these articles talks about the authors and how they were stereotyped for either being Hispanic or black but I believe one of them is right and the other is a misunderstanding. The way I can depict this is the three topics that differ the authors and their essays. Their details are different and their tones and somewhat of their urban past because one grew up in in the United States and one grew up in Mexico.…

While Wendy’s and Subway are both popular fast food restaurants, Subway has more to offer in terms of healthy eating, cost savings, and environmental friendliness. During my work week, I take a daily hour lunch break, mostly to walk around and breath in some fresh air before going back to finish my day. My usual scenery is long lines in every fast food restaurant drive through, and who is not in a line is fighting to get in one; to chow down on a quick cheap meal before rushing back to his/her busy life. Eating on the run is appealing, however, there is more to consider when choosing where to eat than just time and money.…
