Every day there are leaders who encourage their followers to reach their full potential or to keep working towards their goals. These leaders tend to be effective because of the techniques they utilize and the encouragement they offer. As a leader it is extremely important to be an encourager because your followers are looking to you for guidance and support. Letting your employees know they have done a good job or just by giving them advice on how to better their future, lets them know that you really do care and you are willing to go above and beyond for them. Communication is definitely a handy tool when it comes to encouragement because it shows the other person you are willing to listen and give advice when needed. Sometimes just showing that you are there and that you are willing to go the extra mile for anyone in your team will be all the encouragement that is needed. When I am down and need to be built back up I just think about my children and tell myself I have to be their leader and that is all the encouragement I need to motivate me to continue. No matter what kind of leader you are, you need to make sure you encourage and motivate your employees to succeed. Sometimes the best thing a leader can do is show their followers that they are there for them, and that they care about the direction their life is taking them. Encouragement can come in many forms, but as long as the end goal is to see your followers succeed, you will be on your way to becoming a memorable

My job title is Training Co-ordinator for an organisation called Lifeskills Centres, I assess in the following areas; business administration, customer service, management, delivering level 2 and 3 and also any supporting key skills needed. I am responsible for my caseload of learners; their progress, learning and achievement of the qualification. I must cater each programme to suit the needs of the individual learner, I do this by setting each new starter off on initial assessments so that I can see what level they are currently at which will help me decide which course is the most suitable and which approach will be the most beneficial for the learner. I am also responsible for creating strong professional relationships with the learners new employers and maintaining relationships with existing employers this is for two reasons so they would recommend us to other employers so we gain a good reputation and so that they will want to use Lifeskills as a training provider for all of their staff and will not use a different organisation as it is a competitive market. I also advertise vacancies for our employers who have had good experiences in the past with apprentices and would like to recruit a new one. I agree with the employer all of the details to go on to the advert and interview all of the candidates and trial period the suitable ones for a week before sending them to the employer themselves to interview and then make the final decision.…

Being an effective leader in today’s world is one of the greatest challenges an organization can adhere. The ability to attract and retain these talents in the region has been a downfall in my opinion, where it is rare now days to hear of a well known Arab leader in the region. As most thrive to have a caring, safe, supporting space to progress their careers, we still lack the leadership that will provide the clear visibility and recognition that a whole organization aims to achieve.…

I have had many jobs over the last 10 years but I think there is one that left me the most knowledge when it comes to leadership motivation, and also I think that it left a positive impact on me. The company I am going to describe is Victoria’s Secret. I was the operations and staffing supervisor at one of the retail stores, my direct report was the brand delivery and operations manager and this is the person who I want to describe. She had excellent leadership skills, and even though some of the decisions she made sometimes didn’t seem fair they taught me how to be fair and to treat everyone with respect and equally. What I learned was that as a manager we should always make sure we motivate our team and recognize their efforts as well as coach their mistakes. Her biggest skill was the motivation of the team; if the team was happy and motivated then they would always do a better job. Some of the negative things that I observed from here where that sometimes she had preferences for some employees than others, and sometimes she didn’t give everyone the chance to grow and develop inside the company. Even though this was a negative impact, I learned that it was wrong and that everyone deserves a chance to evolve. (Williams, 2013)…

The three articles all analyze the ways that successful leaders motivate employees. Their authors agree that employees’ inspiration is important to achieve the mission of a company. Useem points out that ‘small actions make indelible impressions.’ (p.3). The author exemplifies a real story from a U.S. general who was leading 92,000 troops in a war. Before the war, this general tried to meet and shake hands with many of them in order to inspire them and let the troops know that he cared about them (p.3). Similarly, Ladkin and Weber argue that successful leaders should motivate staff to enjoy the profession (p.282). I believe leadership is an acquired attribute that begins early in school and on the playground. Some children develop take-charge attitudes, some make friends fast, while others are happy just to make the team. Being a new leader in my field, it is important for me to have a cohesive team, and able to lead a strategic team, while being able to make a difference. Being a new authority figure within the organization the employees and colleagues will look up to you and watch you’re every move to make sure the proper leadership is taking place. Being a motivated leader is important in any organization. As a department manager it is my responsibility to make sure all employees are motivated and satisfaction within their performance. Motivation takes direction, intensity, and persistence. I encourage everyone to aspire to be the best version of themselves each and every day. With time there will be new challenges that require new leadership skills, behaviors, and ways of communicating. With that said, as a leader new leadership approaches will have to be developed and established. The new leadership approach would have to be learned, limitations will need to be recognized, and being able to adapt a new leadership style to become a new ideal…

The key to motivation is often found in knowing individuals. As mentioned in the book above, people can play major roles in motivating others. Sure some people just have it, but those are the few and far between. I feel that asking people or figuring out what motivates others through observations can offer a key to success. Being told that I can’t do something, or the idea of competition personally motivates me. Others will have different reasons and finding that can make you a very successful leader. I challenge anyone in a leading role to find personal motivators and then fuel individuals to feed on that.…
