Beach Descriptive Writing
I am surrounded by pink and orange colors layered with a slightly hazy film. Small, wet droplets hit the side of my face. The gritty feeling in between my toes is chilling but yet very pleasing. A few strands of my blonde hair brush across my face caused by the wind whistling through the fishy tasting air. I can smell the saltiness lurking above the water as the clear liquid creeps closer to my buried toes. The sound of the gentle crashes comes from in front of me and beyond under the pink and orange sky.

Water runs over the sand directly in front of me, creating a smooth surface on top of my feet. I look to the right. There is an ever lasting image of sand. As I turn my head toward the left, I see an old abandoned pier. Behind me, is a couple sitting in folding chairs, consuming the breathtaking view. The area is completely

I begin to walk over to the edge of the water and continue to hike along the shore. From behind me, I hear my dad telling me to turn around to take a picture. My dad snaps a picture as I stand in front of the most beautiful painted picture.

After walking along the shore, I begin to jump and leap through the thin layer of water, creating more rising splashes. I wish I could dance in the water and on the sand for a lifetime, but moments after the pink and orange colors begin to fade into the night. The sky turns purple and black. I use every minute until the night takes over.

After what felt like only a minute, my dad began dragging me out of the water onto the dry sand. The sky is black; the night has taken over. Together, we walk back to the edge of the sand. I think to myself, remembering the time just minutes ago on in the water, on the sand, in the most majestic place. My favorite place. I take the first step onto the concrete. Faintly, I can read the sign which states, "Come back soon! Old Orchard Beach, Portland, Maine," and hoping that I will

It was nearly sunset and I was relaxing along the soothing beach in Capitola, California. My brother and sister were assembling sand and shells to make a colossal sand city while my parents were in two chairs chatting. As I was ambling down the oceanfront my feet would feel the chilly waves and I could sense the gentle wind blowing my way. I was reminiscing about the exciting activities previously that day, including swimming through the waves, body surfing, and passing around a volleyball with my brother.…

It is approximately six in the afternoon on this bright shiny day in September. Today is a day like no other, for today we will experience the beauty and grace of the beach at night. For quite some time I've been meaning to experience this illusive phenomenon at night. With all the rumors about the beach being a gloomy and mysterious place under the moon lit sky, I just had to see for myself. The thought of reaching the beach was so tantalizing, that anxiety overwhelmed me. I packed the basic beach utensils; beach towels, sun block, playing cards, a guitar and firewood, therefore was set. The only ingredients missing now for my trip to the beach were my friends, and soon quickly found the solution by picking them up. Along the way, the bumpers of cars were visible for miles, as traffic filled the lanes of the 91 and 55 freeways.…

Walking around the beach made me feel more comfortable than ever. As I stroll along, I could feel the soft smooth sand beneath my feet. The sand looked clean like sugar spread out for miles, as it squished between our toes and made my calves ache with every step. The sound of the ocean comforted me, the rhythmic pounding of the waves represses all my worries. I kicked the water and it responded with a swoosh of its waves. That brought back memories, when I used to come here with my friends and used to play around in the water. I couldn’t help but faint a smile. I found it some what amusing to see the sand castles that still remained, the ones we built long ago, the lucky few that made it through reckless little boys play. It was dark outside and stars floated in the distance, but the moon seemed so close, I could grab it and take it in my pocket to keep for myself, so close that I could see it's bright shadow shimmering on the rolling water. Ghost crabs darted past my feet like thieves in the night, going in one hole and out another. One of them climbed to my feet, its legs harmlessly piercing through my skin. I shook it off and it quickly escaped to the nearest hole it could find.…

The sand scorched our feet like steaks on a fiery grill. I had brought the Rock along to join me for a surfing lesson. We snatched our wetsuits and our boards and hit the waves. The ocean water sends a chilling sensation through my body. The polar water feels like a steamy shower after a long day, calming and relaxing. The waves are monstrous and intimidating, however, I seem to ride them effortlessly like I had done it a million times before. I dash past the Rock and under a curling wave. In the waves there are vividly colored fish swimming in schools. The water is so translucent that one can easily see the ocean floor, and the coral and seaweed that lay on…

My toes pressed firmly into the cool-March sand. The waves gently crashed onto the shoreline of the quiet, small town, which was still in hibernation from the cold winter season. St. Christopher’s beach was always breathtakingly beautiful at this time of year – the weather was not warm enough for the town’s more promiscuous side to come and twirl around in their sheer undergarments, but it was not too cold as to where the touch of the salty water felt like a thousand daggers were piercing your body. It was perfect. Perhaps the only perfect part I had left in my upside-down life.…

I crept out of the room quietly and tried to make my way through the cottage without waking the Bertram family. I stepped outside and onto the silky sand that seemed to stretch on forever. I jogged to one of the beach's most powdery sand dunes and jumped in feet first, sand rising around my shins. Running the sand through my fingers as if to tell if it were real, I was deep in thought. Whether or not I was dead and this was heaven was probably my…

I shift my eyes out to the rest of the lake. The view is breathtaking. The water is as clear as glass and looks like thousands of diamonds being thrown across a blue blanket, shimmering with sheer beauty. It’s as if I’m now in another world. With each stroke of my paddle, I gain more speed till I’m out in the middle of my lake. I come to a stop. I close my eyes and tilt my head upward toward the hot sun, as it beats down upon my skin. Sweats is dripping down my forehead. A warm breeze brushes up against my face. I look over just as a flock of birds were soaring by. Truly amazing. I start paddling again, heading swiftly towards the my favorite place, the swimming…

I manage to pull myself out of the comfort of the bed and slowly walk to the door of the balcony. Opening the door, I am immediately greeted by the fresh scent of the salty ocean air and the sweet aroma of flowers in blossom. As we approach the beach, the first thing I notice is the sky. As I look into the cloudless, cerulean blue sky and see the flawlessness of life; in the distance, rolling clear-blue waves crash into each other with such force as that of football players. The sky is breathtaking along with the sounds of the waves and the tide washing onto the shore. The water reminds me of crystals shimmering in the water with the sun reflecting off of it. As the sun sets, the sky turns into a pink hue with a bright orange sun going down into the horizon.…

When walking the boardwalk, I remember the smell of French fries. The sound of laughter and children playing filled my heart with excitement. Walking on the hot sand, I lay my beach towel down on the warm sand. As I get comfortable, I see sand castles, volleyballs and beach balls. Flashes from cameras from taking pictures of our moments. I grab my friend’s hand as we both ease our way to the cold, freezing water. We both scream while waves brush up against our legs. We then hear our boyfriends call out our names, getting us to go further into the ocean. Our knees buckle, teeth chatter and our hearts pound. As each wave became higher we all screamed and jumped. However, there is always that one huge wave. As the four of us saw…
