Apple Watch Rhetorical Analysis
Rhetorical Analysis

Audience
My audience for this piece consisted of Apple Watch users who want to track their daily and weekly fitness through the activity app provided by Apple. I met the needs of this audience by going into detail on how to perform each step. I made sure each individual step was concise but informative, so that the person following these instructions would not be overwhelmed. I also made sure to include instructions on how to receive notifications, in case the performer desired to have them on because my last step mentioned using notifications to track daily and weekly exercise.

Purpose
The purpose of this piece was to teach Apple Watch users who might not be familiar with their watch how to track their daily and weekly exercise in terms of steps taken, calories burned, and amount of time standing. I accomplished this by instructing them on how to access the app, and how to use the app once they accessed it. I also provided instructions on how to change their daily goals.

Context

The set of instructions were supposed to correlate to the major of the person creating the instructions. The instructions also needed to include pictures, if it would further enhance them. This affected my writing in many ways. For one, I had to keep changing my ideas because I couldn’t get pictures for my original ideas. It also affected me because I had to make sure my set of instructions related to my major which is Kinesiology. I do believe the two can go together because Kinesiology is the study of physical activity and body movements, and the activity app on the Apple Watch allows you to track physical activity. Another challenge I faced was taking the photos, I couldn’t show myself tapping on the watch and its apps because I had to hold a phone in one

Advertisements has been utilized for many years to sell products. The very popular company Nike, who has been one of the top brands in sports and athletic apparel for decades, has become very effective when it comes to persuading a specific target audience through the use of their advertisements. In 2009, Nike started a men versus women campaign to increase the awareness of their Nike+ system. During that time, the Nike+ community was predominately males. They needed to attract more female runners, so Nike utilized gender competition as a rhetorical device to encourage women participate. This challenge was one of the most successful Nike challenges ever because it drew in more than 120,000 new runners who signed up for the challenge and more than 50,000 were female runners.…

One of the things that I realized in the tracker is the activity your body endures or should endure throughout the day. Doing so will help burn certain calories if you had an intake that was over the target as well as just keep the body in shape. This part builds the energy to its optimum status. We can look at simple things as waking up earlier and sleeping earlier as being ways to fit this in our schedule or to help with the energy factor. Believe it or not our sleep and exercise patterns will help with the nutrition portion as well. Working out more whether going to the gym or just home exercise will keep the body moving to a pace where the body can work at its maximum potential.…

Over the course of this week I have learned many things about my eating habits. I found that when I am very busy I tend to eat less and healthier. When I am just sitting around I tend to eat more than necessary and the foods are not as good for me. Using this tracker has really helped me to see what I am consuming, as far as carbohydrates, fats, sugars, proteins, sodium, and total calories. I have also been able to tell that the more active I am the more calories that I burn in a day. Before I started using the tracker I never gave much thought to how many calories I was burning just walking around, cleaning, cooking, and working. My eating habits are not the greatest. This week I went to the beach for a couple of days and my eating habits while we were driving to and from Delaware was horrible. I ate fast food and consumed way to much sodium and sugars. When we were cooking for ourselves and walking around all day my numbers were much better. I did notice using this tracker though that I need to eat more vegetables and proteins, and cut back on my sugars. I have a hard time staying under my daily sugar allotment. Overall, I really do need to improve my eating habits.…
