“Finance is like art” you have to analyse every aspect before making just a decision. I believe that if someone is good at art, he would be good at finance because you need logic; everything has a set order and method. Each piece is placed carefully and has a high significance amongst its environment. You need analytical skills to take apart every piece of information and use it to make your own decisions.

Finance is a defining subject of study in any business program. The study of finance (along with a number of other subjects, like, marketing, accounting, and human resource management) define who you are as business students. Any student who graduates with a degree in business must have some familiarity with financial principles and financial markets. The first objective of this course is to survey these topics for non-finance concentrators. The word "survey" means that we will not explore every area of the discipline nor will we indulge in advanced study of any area. The second objective of the course is to introduce students who are interested in becoming finance concentrators to topics that they will study in more depth in later advanced courses.…

My name is Edgar Martinez. I was born in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) 34 years ago. My childhood was pretty normal. My parents had enough to provide for my little brother and I. My father was a local councilman at the time my mom a homemaker. I always wanted to be a politician like my father I admired him as a matter of fact I still do. I graduated from High School in 1995 and soon after and got drafted to go the Colombian Army. I was sent to Santa Marta a small town located a 200 miles north from my hometown. There I encounter my first experience with the real word and left for good my childhood. In the middle of deployment my father a secretary of Energy for the national government was kidnaped . After that life was never going to be the same. We waited and waited and waited ….. and waited. And after a few weeks a platton of navy seals of some sort rescue my father and he was brought back to us alive and almost well. The trauma of being in captivity was devastating for him and the family . My parents desided to send me to the US to be in a safer place. Little did I know I would never return to live in the place I was born. I came to the US in 1997 directly from Cartagena to Salt Lake City. A Mormon family took me under their wing for a couple of months while I got it on my feet…

My primary goal is to get into the University Scholars program. With both a bachelor’s and master’s in Finance I hope that I will stand out to potential employers because investment banking is an extremely competitive field. Typically big banks hire graduates from Ivy League schools, but I’m hoping that an advanced degree will help me get my foot in the door. Also, while getting my master’s degree I would have the opportunity to specialize in Financial Engineering, which would prepare me to work in an investment market. Additionally, I want to join the Culverhouse Investment Management Group. Members of this group have gotten jobs at J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs to name a few, and that’s where I want to work when I graduate. In addition to helping me get a job when I graduate, being a member of this group will give me practical experience for the future. Also being a member of this group would give me the chance to see if I really am interested in investment banking. If it turns out I do not like it, it would be better to know now than to get a job and then realize that it is not the right fit for me.…

My decision had to be made up because I did not know if I could graduate from Campus High School and I knew I did not have enough credits to become a senior at Campus. I hated going to school because I was not a fan of the teaching staff or either the students. They were not as bad because I honestly remember them always pushing me to do my best and I still think about a few of them and I am not proud of dropping out because I know I let some of those teachers down. My only problem with school was just waking up early never made me feel good, I would always feel sick, and so I never went and then I just stopped going altogether. I was just very lazy and lacked confidence.…
