College Entry Essay
My first couple weeks at The University of Alabama have certainly been a unique experience. I threw myself into the Southern culture by deciding to rush a sorority. In Connecticut, sororities are a fun activity that a few people join, and rush is a two, maybe three day process. Here, rush and sororities are a whole different ballgame. Door songs are easily the scariest thing on the planet. Recently a video of a door song from a different college went viral with captions comparing them to horror movies, and I know that it’s just a joke but I can see where they are coming from. Having hundreds of girls scream at you while you have to just stand there and smile is quite terrifying.
During rush I also experienced another major difference

My primary goal is to get into the University Scholars program. With both a bachelor’s and master’s in Finance I hope that I will stand out to potential employers because investment banking is an extremely competitive field. Typically big banks hire graduates from Ivy League schools, but I’m hoping that an advanced degree will help me get my foot in the door. Also, while getting my master’s degree I would have the opportunity to specialize in Financial Engineering, which would prepare me to work in an investment market. Additionally, I want to join the Culverhouse Investment Management Group. Members of this group have gotten jobs at J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs to name a few, and that’s where I want to work when I graduate. In addition to helping me get a job when I graduate, being a member of this group will give me practical experience for the future. Also being a member of this group would give me the chance to see if I really am interested in investment banking. If it turns out I do not like it, it would be better to know now than to get a job and then realize that it is not the right fit for me.
In addition to majoring in Finance, I hope to minor in Computer Science. Computers have been a passion of mine since I got my first MacBook in the third grade. Ever since then I’ve always looked for news puzzles to solve and more ways to challenge myself. After taking a Computer

The move Amistad and the story “Interesting Narrative of the life of Olaudah Equiano” have many similarities. The three similarities between the story and Amistad are the ways that the slaves were treated, the conditions of the ships, and the reactions of the slaves. Throughout this novel there are a lot of characters worthy of comparing and contrasting, however I've decided to analyze Matsu, and Stephen relationship. The base of Matsu and Stephen relationship sort of reminds me of a George and Lennie relationship from the “Of Mice and Men Tale”, in which George carries around Lennie like a helpless pet by caring for him, guiding him through life, and bailing him out of the sticky situations he gets himself in.…

I was not quite sure what I wanted to do when I first came to Providence College. However, after some contemplation and experience through introductory courses, I have decided that I would like to pursue a career in finance. I have always been an analytical person with a knack for using numbers in various ways. The first career that comes to mind would be a financial analyst. I understand that this sector of finance is extremely competitive and would take a lot of time and effort starting at an entry-level position to ultimately achieve my goal of becoming an analyst at a respected bank, but I am also a hard worker. The marks that I have received throughout my academic career are not solely because I am an intelligent person; it takes a lot of time and effort—and ambition—to accomplish such things. The position of a financial analyst also appeals to me because I know that these individuals are not simply crunching numbers alone behind a desk all day. Rather, they often work in teams—something I have done my entire life through sports.…

During my first year at Southeastern, I was not sure that this was a real college experience. A little about my background; I came from a high school not much smaller than Southeastern. It was a popular public high school, where parties were wild and drugs and alcohol were present in many of the students lives. Anyways, media portrays college as a big party, “the best years of your life.” Therefore, coming to Southeastern was a little bit of a culture shock, there are not wild parties, and no drugs or alcohol present. Nevertheless, I was not looking to go to a big party school, but I was not expecting college to feel like I was somewhat separated from reality. It took a fair amount of time for me to be completely adjusted to the culture of…

My most prized possession is my mental stability and ethical background that I have acquired from my southern upbringing. Growing up in a rural community in the south and being reared by elderly parents allowed my seeds of character and respect to be nurtured by an entire village of people who saw my potential and wanted to see me succeed and thus pushed and prayed for my wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. As a child, series of unique experiences of being able to develop intimate and loving relationships with almost everyone in my community made me appreciate the influence of everyone on my life. It was not long before I realized that no matter how old or young, rich or poor, or educated a person was, everyone contributed to humanity’s niche…
