According to the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) model, it clearly shows that the services offered by AirAsia definitely falls under the Star category as this organization has been achieving excellently high growth rate. Not only has that, the company, too, acquired larger market share comparatively. Although those who fall in the Star category are considered leaders and capable of high growth market as well as generate lots of cash, still, AirAsia need to be alert of their usage of lots of cash due to different conditions of market condition. Not only that, the organization too need to be alert that the market growth cannot be the only or the most important factor when AirAsia is evaluating the growth market as it would invite other competitors. For an example, when capacity exceeds demand, there is a possibility for a market to be low margin and later on become unattractive.…

I choose the two companies are AirAsia Berhad and Malaysian Airline System Berhad. This two companies are the flying company in Malaysia. AirAsia Berhad (MYX: 5099) is a Malaysian-based low-cost airline. AirAsia is Asia's largest low-fare, no-frills airline and a pioneer of low-cost travel in Asia.AirAsia group operates scheduled domestic and international flights to over 400 destinations spanning 25 countries. Its main hub is the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Its affiliate airlines Thai AirAsia, Indonesia AirAsia, AirAsia Philippines and AirAsia Japan have hubs in Suvarnabhumi Airport, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Clark International Airport and Narita International Airport respectively. AirAsia's registered office is in Petaling Jaya, Selangor while its head office is at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. This company’s parents company is Tune Group. AirAsia was established in 1993 and began operations on 18 November 1996. It was originally founded by a government-owned conglomerate, DRB-Hicom. On 2 December 2001 the heavily-indebted airline was bought by former Time Warner executive Tony Fernandes's company Tune Air Sdn Bhd for the token sum of one ringgit (about USD 0.26 at the time) with USD 11 million (MYR 40 million) worth of debts. Fernandes turned the company around, producing a profit in 2002 and launching new routes from its hub in Kuala Lumpur, undercutting former monopoly operator Malaysia Airlines with promotional fares as low as MYR 1 (USD 0.27). AirAsia operates with the world's lowest unit cost of USD 0.023/ASK and a passenger break-even load factor of 52%. It has hedged 100% of its fuel requirements for the next three years, achieves an aircraft turnaround time of 25 minutes, has a crew productivity level that is triple that of Malaysia Airlines, and achieves an average aircraft utilisation rate of 13 hours a day.All scheduled AirAsia departures from Kuala Lumpur use the Low Cost Carrier…

After all the turbulence national air carrier Air India went through in the recent past, Arvind Jadhav, Chairman and Managing Director of the beleaguered airlines is now determined to have a positive balance sheet by 2014-15 and is ready with a turnaround strategy. Some of the key targets the national carrier has set for itself include achieving 25 million domestic and 15 million international passengers by 2015, 93% on-time punctuality, and 75% load factor. The turn around strategy involves the activation of a low cost air service especially in the domestic market as well as the consolidation of the existing domestic operations before any expansion both in the domestic as well as the international markets is done. Air India has already achieved one major feat in the entire blueprint of the strategy, that is, they have got all the unions on board. It may be noted that Air India had halted operations in the past under the pressuring demands of the union. While the strategy clearly outlines wage and manpower rationalization, what comes as a relief to Air India’s employees is that there will not be any wage cut nor any job will be axed. This comes as a surprise move from a carrier which has the highest ratio of manpower to aircrafts in the entire industry. It seems the virtue of the fact that Air India is a Government carrier and not a private player has come to the rescue of its…

Have you ever call up to AirAsia customer service hotline? What do you think about the customer service hotline? For me, it's totally a pain to call them up. Why is it so? I recently made a call to the customer service hotline to change my flight to a later date. First when I was connected, I get a recorded message that last 30 seconds which is not able to skip by pressing any number. After making the right way into speaking to a customer service representative, I was put on the line for more than 20 minutes for listening to their annoying music and machine recorded voice:…

Growing up I have always wanted to become an Attorney-At-Law, well time and things change, and I have been exposed to other career options. Becoming an Attorney-At-Law was not meant to be but still I had a burning desire and passion inside me to become a trained professional, so I thought I heard the kitchen calling, I could almost hear sounds of pots and pans cluttering, I could see spatula moving against thickly covered sides of bowls and a beautiful sight and sound it was. Cooking and baking I thought was my calling, my God given passion, I could feel it, even taste it. Whilst in high school, I chose Food and Nutrition as my area of specialisation at Clan Carthy High School, over a two period 2000 -2001.…
