Verbal Communication

Verbal communication involves the use of spoken words. Communication is effective when the recipient of the message understands its meaning and can express that back to the speaker in delivering an intended message. Voice tone and volume are important in providing clarity. Listening carefully is also important. If they are not English speaking an interpreter will be required.

Written Communication

Written communication is done by the use of pen and paper to deliver a message. Other written methods include email, text chats and SMS.
The effectiveness of written communication depends on the writing style, grammar, vocabulary, and clarity.

Gestural Communication
Gestural Communication involves the use of body language, eye contact and hand gestures to get the message across to the patient. `
