Performance Review Meeting
Activity C

What you have learnt from preparing for and carrying out the review
I learnt how to set the meeting out, use the correct body language and how you should handle sensitive issues. It also helped me to understand motivation and focusing on strengths and weaknesses of employees and how to communicate effectively and stay in control of a situation.
Overall I felt that the preparation leading up to the meeting helped in all of these areas. Studying the theories of Herzberg and Maslow helped me to understand that key areas of motivation and how to incorporate key management skills in order to get the best performance from an employee. Through watching performance management films also during the preparation process, this helped me to focus on my body language throughout the meeting and ensure that I am being perceived in a positive manner and agreeing targets on equal ground not by being too controlling of the situation and forcing decisions upon the individual.
What you have learnt from the feedback you have received from your tutor and the individual whom you reviewed
I have learnt that I need to ensure to take notes during the meeting. This is especially important when discussing performance plans and setting agreements. This would help me to remember after the meeting what was said so that I could write up a formal development plan for the employee but ensure that all information taken is accurate and that no details are missed. I need to also ensure that I talk slowly and clearly. It was fed back that I talked fairly quickly throughout the meeting, this may have been down to nerves because of the situation, however I need to ensure I remain focused on the task in hand and not what is going on around me to calm my nerves and ensure the employee understands fully the feedback that I am given.
Overall I felt the meeting went well. I had good feedback and my body language was portrayed well. I felt I had prepared well and

On September 13th, 2016 at 2:00 pm I participated in a PPT meeting for my second grader, Matthew Ellis. I was excited for him to begin a new year of school within the Marlborough school district. However, upon arrival to the PPT meeting, the special education director, Mrs. Plack was late due to grabbing the wrong folder. In addition to being late and unprepared, this meeting became extremely uncomfortable for me after Mrs. Plack asked several inappropriate questions such as is Matthew on medication…

AA Meeting Reflection Heather Straight 3/20/15 10 Park Place Avon NY Zion Episcopal Church 5:30pm Monday Nights I recently attended an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting for the first time. Because of the fact that I live in a small rural town, I had expected not to find a meeting anywhere in my local area. To my surprise, there were two different meeting locations all within walking distance from my house. The fact that my small town needed two separate meetings, and there were many others in nearby towns…

Reflection of 3 BOE Meetings As a community member, parent and teacher I have attended many Board of Education meetings; however, it has always been in the same town. I never really considered that different Boards would conduct themselves so differently; therefore, this was truly an eye opening experience for me, as the meetings I attended exemplified a variety of personalities and procedures. I chose to visit my own district, and the districts located north and south of me. Lacey Township is a…

official session with my supervisor went well. This was the first time we would review my performance on the crisis line. Personally, I was apprehensive about our meeting, I felt I was doing a good job; however the observation team may have felt diffident. Our meeting was casual yet formal. Camie is a great supervisor, she is easy to talk with and very supportive. What I found strange in our first meeting I was preoccupied with what I may have done wrong. I did not consider what I may have done…

The IEP meeting I was able to observe was a casual meeting as the parent and student did not attend. With this allowance there was more of a familiar atmosphere and the flexibility formality. The meeting was pretty basic, but quickly rushed through because of the timing of the year and the many other IEP’s to get through. This IEP meeting was for a student’s entry into the IEP process with the evidence collected over the year. The meeting members consisted of the General Education teacher, Special…

that I would be observing an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meeting, I had several ideas on how it would actually go since I have never observed a meeting on a student. I had pictured in my mind that the meeting would be in a quiet room with a really long table and it would be two groups, the parents and the student and the other group would be the teachers, negotiating a contract. I also had pictured in my mind that the meeting would be very confrontational with one side deciding on something…

NA Meeting: Stephen’s Community House Friday 2/10/17 @ 7:00pm – 8:30 pm 1500 E. 17th St. Open Meeting/Discussion (Gratitude) I attended this meeting because of all the good work that, I had heard the Stephen’s Community House has accomplished in the north-side neighborhood. The first thing I was impressed with was the complexion of all the participants at the meeting, a sure sign of clean living. After the meeting began I learned that most of the participants were fifty years of age and up, celebrating…
