Introduction

When preparing a mission statement for an organization or for a department within an organization, a mission statement should be clear and concise. The goal or goals of a mission statement is to find a way to incorporate social meaning, criteria of the organization, address concepts of the organization such as moral and ethical position of the organization and identify the vision. A mission statement will also be able identify the image of an organization by addressing the organizations market and product and/or service it has to offer. When developing a mission statement for an organization, a strategic plan or goal is an important starting point when developing an organization 's mission statement. As discussed by David, F.R. (2007), it is important to include the following nine essential components when starting to development a mission statement for an organization.
• Customers
• Products or services
• Markets
• Technology
• Concern for survival, growth, and profitability
• Philosophy
• Self-concept
• Concern for public image
• Concern for employees
The Office of State Purchasing or also known as the Office of Procurement Services is a department within the Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS) and has the responsibility of providing quality service for state agencies and recognizing the importance of the taxpayer 's dollar. The Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS) takes pride on contributing directly to the success of state agencies, boards and commissions as well as local governments and state universities by providing quality services, specialized support, and innovative solutions. The Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS) works as a customer service organization and team members continually look for ways to improve work processes and final products. Team members of the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) listen earnestly to customers and work with team members to make a positive difference
