There are many variations of online communication including email, blogs, skype and social media (such as twitter, Facebook and Instagram) is the social interaction exchanged between people. They can be used by anyone in the world and have a variety of features such as messaging and the sharing of images. Online communication can be used anywhere in the world that has an internet connection and is usually very basic to use.
Online communication is forever changing and developing.
Definition: communication is the means of sending or receiving information, such as telephone lines or computers.
Advantages of online communication
There are many advantages of communication due to the fact that it covers as wide range of areas. An advantage of online communication is that it is available 24 hours a day, 7 day a week. Also, online communication is extremely good for people who lack self-confidence; this is because they will find it easier to type messages than talk to people in face to face situations. Another advantage of online communication is that conversations can be revisited and be referred back to in the future. Lastly, online communication allows its users to communicate with users all over the globe without many complications; it is also free whereas international calls would cost a large amount of money.
Disadvantages of online communication
Although there are many advantages there are also disadvantages. There are many dangers to online communication and people can be under threat, it is very too lie on online profiles and people may be catfished. Online communication can lead to conflict due to the lack of emotion in messages as they can be misunderstood or misleading. Online communication can take longer than a live or telephone conversation. “This is because the time it takes to type, wait for a response and then type again interferes with the flow of the conversation itself”.[1]
