From the day I was born, my life had been filled with a certain type of music. It was the mixture of Spanish and English flowing through my ears. Learning the two languages simultaneously has allowed me to see all the different colors of the dialect. Spanish and English were my ways of creating a beautiful picture. My mother, on the other hand, could only supply the brush. The colors would simply not stick in her eyes. Her thick accent was like a warm blanket, enveloping me in its familiarity and comfort. To others, the sound was that of a song slightly off key. It was understandable but unpleasant to the musically-trained ear. Seeing her work long hours, with her only source of English learning being a Country music channel, was a defining time in my life. The day she was able to perfectly pronounce Jason Aldean’s name with no issue or hesitation was the day my life changed.
