produce a child development assignment

Sequence = is the order that development happens in. a baby's physical development may begin with rolling over then sit up,crawl,walk,run another may sit up,walk,run missing out rolling over and crawling even though elements are missed the development skill proceeds in what is viewed as an expected patten.

Rate = is the speed that it happens. There for a baby may achieve walking unaided at 10 months another may accomplish it at 12 months and at 16 months.

Children’s development is holistic because each child is unique and develop at their own rate and way. Some children stand out because they have reached developmental milestones sooner than other of the same age.

Social, Emotional and Behavioural

0-3 years
Children of this age start to find out about their identities and form strong attachment to their parents/carers. When the child starts nursery they are usually be given a key worker this helps the child to settle in and is also the first point of contact if there are any concerns. At this age the child maybe having tantrums because of frustration as they will want to do things for themselves or they are trying to tell you something but don’t know how to say it.

3-7 years
Children are still developing there identities and are starting to playing with other children. they socialise through imaginary play they also respond well to being given little jobs to do eg: being class helper.

Friendships will be more settled and they may have a group of friends .they also need to be able to solve problems and be able to do activities that require more independence. They will also be aware of what other children think of them.

12-16 years
At this age child’s self esteem is more vulnerable and they still need guidance and support in many different ways. Being independent is also a big thing to them and will spend more time out with friends also displaying childish behaviour as they may be unsure of how to behave in different situations.

16-19 years
At this age they are entering adulthood and will sometimes need advice and guidance from other adults. Some individuals may vary in maturity in the way that interact with others.


0-3 years
Physical development develops faster at this age because when they are first born baby’s are dependent on the reflexes such as sucking and grasping for survival. In the first year they learn to control their bodies by learning to support their head,rolling over, sit up and crawling. In the second year they will develop just as quick as in the first and at this stage most will be walking. Now that they have more control over their movement they will be able to point at things and even hold small objects. In the third year children will be able to hold crayons and even turn pages of a book as they have more control of their movement they may also be exploring other toys such as tricycles.

3-7 years
At this age the child will be growing with confidence because their movement is more coordinated so they will be able to write,cut and draw using their fine motor...
