Math, english, writing, and science. The elemental and essential courses that you take throughout your school career. AP Chemistry was the catalyst for my intellectual development and my new found quest for knowledge. From the first day, I collided with my syllabus, it was frightening yet exciting at the same time because it was the academic challenge I was looking for. Going through this course was like hiking an unfamiliar mountain, it was demanding and rigorous but very rewarding at the end. I

My First class is ceramics. I have loved this class since day one because I love hands on projects. In ceramics we start our day off with working on our sketches aka bellwork. Once the 10 minutes is up we work on our projects. So far we have made a bowl, a sphere that shows movement and currently we are working on a mug. We have learned a lot on the tools that we a using. For an example the slab roller has flattened all the clay that helps us cut even…

There is a common myth that high school is an established educational institute set out to deprive you of a social life and your hair before the age of 18 due to its curriculum and demanding courses .This is in fact is one of the biggest disclaimers you'll hear surrounding any high school. In reality, the academic aspect of high school is quite frankly the easiest obstacle to overcome. Although seemingly hard, for the majority of my academic classes this year I've easily adapted and have progressed quite smoothly within each individual course. To tell the truth the hardest course to overcome was AP Chemistry. While the subject itself captivated much of the basic knowledge taught in regular chemistry, the real difficulty was applying those…

When asked in class every year which subject I admired the most, my answer was always “none”. Although the grades in my core curriculum classes were always excellent, I never found interest in the basic subjects. Math was a bunch of numbers with letters, science just reviewed our bodies and the how the world was believed to be through one scientist theories and history repeated itself, constantly. As a freshman, I contemplated tremendously over what major and career I would pursue for the rest of my life. I never knew there were more subjects than just science, English, math and history until the day my mother introduced me to unraveling my creativity in the summer.…

My sophomore year, this year, I enrolled in the AP physics class. Honestly, I only enrolled in this class rather than the chemistry class for two reasons. Firstly, my school does not offer an honors chemistry class and I thought it would not be challenging enough. Secondly, I have a huge interest in math and math related problems. Physics is like a huge application problem class.…

Since first offered, I have always pursued the most rigorous courses available to me. While these classes did not amount to much of a difference from the work of the standard classes, junior year of high school offered a new level of difficult courses. At my high school, junior year is the first year in which a student is able to enroll in Advanced Placement courses offered through the College Board. The teachers of these classes have a reputation of being the most difficult on campus, even creating a reputation of their extreme workloads and high standards in the neighboring high school. Regardless of their reputation, I enrolled in each of the Advanced Placement core classes. Though many advised not to take more than two A.P. classes, as…
