How to Write a Good Procedure Essay
How to Write a Good Procedure Essay

Have you ever crammed the night before a Progress Test, wondering how to achieve a high mark on a composition? Indeed, this often happens in level 1 at the HCT where students focus on procedure essays, among others. Below I’ll outline how to write a stellar one.

First, it’s important to read the tasks carefully since you will get two options in the Progress Test. Choose the easier topic and write a short title. Second, make a short outline before you start writing. You should write the verbs that you will use in the body of your essay. After that, write a 2-3 sentence introduction with a suitable “hook”, compelling your marker to keep reading, as well as a clear topic sentence that is not copied from the task itself. In the body, you must write the steps in a logical order, using linking words as well as additional details. To get extra marks, you can employ both active (command) forms of verbs as well as modals. Moreover, you will impress your marker if you use varied vocabulary and sentences, including both short and long ones containing clauses. Finally, you need a 2-3 sentence conclusion. In this paragraph, you should refer in general to the procedure again, commenting on how easy or difficult it is. Give a recommendation in the last sentence and, above all, reread your essay and count the words.

In sum, the procedure is no Herculean task if, in fact, you have studied hard throughout the semester. Even if you haven’t, you can still attain a decent grade by following the steps outlined here. Good luck!

Instructions

1. Underline the command forms.
2. Highlight the modal verbs (or put a box around them).
3. Circle the linking words (for new steps).

Laundry is a daily chore that must be done. I do not know of anyone who enjoys the daily ritual of cleaning clothes but with a few easy steps it does not have to be such a hassle. There is also some pre-planning steps you can take that will save you time and frustration. The first and most important step in the laundry process is to be prepared. Make sure you have all the supplies you need to get the job done before you get started. You will need laundry detergent. You can buy powder or liquid detergent, but I prefer liquid because powder detergent does not always dissolve completely and you can substitute liquid detergent for stain remover in a pinch. You will also need a stain remover, such as Shout, and bleach. Bleach now comes in a color safe version so you can use it on all your clothes, not just whites. I also recommend using a liquid fabric softener in the wash but you will need sheets for the dryer as well. Most washing machines have a place to put it or you can buy a ball that goes in the washer and releases the fabric softener at the right time. Also, you will need a basket for your dirty clothes to go in.. I keep several so I can sort them as they get dirty instead of digging through one basket to get a load. Once you have all your supplies you are ready to start. Depending on what you are washing you will need to adjust the setting on your washer. For example towels can be washed on heavy duty but finer linens such as silks need a more delicate setting. Start the washer and add the detergent and any bleach as the water begins to fill. If you do not already have your laundry separated in baskets, you will need to go through everything to get a load ready. Like colors and fabrics…

The Process of Changing a Newborns Diaper a You should not take lightly the changing of a diaper. For it to be done correctly, you need to take the time and do the proper steps. If not done so, your baby could end up with a diaper rash and more seriously, an infection. A clean diapered baby is a happy baby. To start, you need to know the weight of the newborn. With this, you will be able to find which size diapers will be appropriate. Not all newborns wear newborn diapers. You will also need to decide on which brand diaper you will want to use. There are several brands to choose. The name brands are nice because they absorb more and children are less likely to get rashes. Priced less and packaged in greater quantity are generic brands. However, they are less absorbent, which results in frequent changing and greater chance for diaper rash. You will also need a diaper wipes and powder. Again, there are name brand and generic. You will have to make the decision based on, which is better for you and your newborns needs. After you choose the size and brand you need to set up the area in which you will be changing the newborn. It should be soft yet washable. Sometimes things can get a little messy and you will want to be able to disinfect. Put all these supplies at easy access to you where you will be changing the newborn. Make sure supplies are at the foot of the changing area. This will keep little hands from reaching them. All the cellophane should be off the packages. Take the diapers out of the packaging and stack them at a hand's reach. You should not have to walk away as soon as you start changing the baby. You are ready to change. Start by placing the baby on the changing surface with its head at appropriate end. Undress the baby from waist down. There are tabs on the front of the diaper, lift up on the corners of them and the diaper will be unsecured. You need to check if the baby has had a bowel movement. To do this, just pull diaper carefully down between the…

Everything we do in life involves some kind of process to get it accomplished. Whether it is tying our shoes, baking a cake, or changing the oil in the car. People do things differently and have certain steps they take, in their own way, to get it done. This essay could be written about practically anything, but it will be about how to carve a jack-o-lantern. Carving a pumpkin is actually pretty easy. With a few quick, straight cuts with a knife, triangular eyes, a nose, and a toothy smile can be made. The result is a face that almost anyone will recognize, even if it was not drawn on a piece of paper. It is the face of a jack-o-lantern. Carving a really memorable jack-o-lantern can take a bit more planning, involving steps such as, preparing the pumpkin, actually carving the pumpkin, and getting the pumpkin finished and ready to put on display.…
