Modern “Art”

What is modern art? The definition in the dictionary is “A genre of the fine arts created from the mid-19th century which strayed from traditional styles and techniques.” Modern art definitely strays from traditional styles and techniques I will give it that much. But a genre of the FINE arts, that’s a bit rich. The only fine thing about it is the fine it should incur when it is shown to the general public.

The new piece of “art” in the city, the blood red wall, is an example of modern art. It features a wall which is painted blood red. Wow how exciting. What is worse then this, however, is the description of the red wall. “Blood from a dead baby in Congo,” “Blood from a teenager decapitated by neo-Nazis in Sweden,” and so on. How cheery. When you go into the city of course want to hear about dead people and animals. What better use of tax payer’s money than to make people miserable.

What amazes me even more then these messes being displayed in national art galleries is that people actually go and see them. Whenever you go to the city you see people go in the art gallery. It is classified as a good thing to do in the city. You spend all that time and effort getting into the city to be confronted by drawings that 3 year olds have done with their eyes closed. Quite honestly I would rather spend the effort and time on one of those new family packs on McDonalds. You would have more entertainment watching the coke in those oversized cups bubble when you blow into the straws.

In fact I think anyone who is a modern artist is a genius. It’s a great way to make money and you need no skills at all. All you need to do is get some paint, get some friends to come over to your house and throw paint on a canvas. It’s a fun thing to do with friends and you can become famous doing it. Only problem is you might have to share your easy money with your friends. It’s so easy to do that even a 4 year old can be an internationally acclaimed artist. A young...
