Los autores desarrollaron un modelo de Evaluación del Valor Estratégico (SVU) de una compañía como complemento a la herramienta tradicional del Valor Económico Agregado (EVA).
El modelo SVU agrega los siguientes componentes cualitativos al proceso de evaluación y toma de decisiones en una compañía: 1. Importancia del consumidor: considera cómo cada decisión en la cadena de valor afecta las preferencias del consumidor 2. Velocidad tecnológica: evalúa que tan rápido cambia la tecnología utilizada 3. Posición competitiva: determina cómo se compara la compañía con sus competidores en términos de costos, calidad y otras dimensiones 4. Capacidad de los proveedores: considera qué tan profunda y capaz es la base externa de proveedores 5. Arquitectura: determina si la cadena de valor es integral o es modular en la estructura del producto, servicio o sistema. Es integral si todos los elementos que conforman el producto están acoplados; es modular si hay una separación entre los componentes del sistema pero existen interfaces que permiten un intercambio simple de las partes.
Aplicando este modelo para Zara, encuentro las siguientes características: 1. Importancia del consumidor
