There are millions of reasons that a person has their choice on a school. School is one of the most important decisions that a person will make in life. We are privileged as kids in what we call ‘being forced to go’. A person wants as much from a school as a school wants from them; including things such as the facilities environment and teachers as well. A person needs to feel secure and welcomed when they come to a school or they won’t want to come to school. However my reasons for coming to this school were met and matched without my even knowing they would. From the moment I arrived at this school I was automatically intrigued with the well maintained and cleanliness of the campus. From the parking lots being well managed and well-designed being in areas that are fairly close to the campus, so to speak I do not have to make such a long walk from my car to the campus. The agricultural aspect of the land really caught my eye as well; from the parking lots to the entrance and all throughout the campus there is a lot of beautiful foliage that just catches the eye. The magnificent library draws the surrounding sky and engulfs you in its never ending awe as you see the reflections of everything.
In the beginning of the semester I felt as most typical college students; lost and confused. When it came to registration, the process was fair and quick without too much hassle or waiting in lines. It had always felt like the school wanted me here and as if the school itself wanted me to come. This school was nice enough to have people around campus the whole first week just everywhere I needed with all the resources and tools to help me find my classes and schedule. The weeks that followed were full of meeting new interesting people, a lot of them no different from me, college students trying to make it. The people were nice always making me feel socially accepted in all means. I was able to meet people to play with and just have a good time hanging out with. There were many new faces always keeping a big smile on mines. The classrooms and hallways would always be a pleasing site for they would stay clean and ready for use. I could confidently walk into my building and into class knowing that there would be a clean seat and a clean table for me to sit at. I could enter into a bathroom without fear that this time the bathroom would have some horrendous or atrocious smell to it or paper towels tossed around like used condoms. There are also convenient dispensaries located in just about; if not in every building which make for refreshments and snacks easy. The teachers have always been big helps and great to me, helping in ways I didn’t even know I could be helped in. The lectures haven’t been boring and most if not all had been at an easy. The location of the campus has also been a big help in saving on gas. And because the campus is not so huge, I don’t have to many problems with timing or being late to class. The teachers also showed me the great tutoring departments this campus has, full of wonderful instructor that is more than helpful. I’ve always felt like I could be a part of anything at this school.

When I first arrived at high school, I was extremely nervous. The school was huge and there was not a familiar face in site. Although I was nervous, staff and students did their best to create a positive learning environment. Going into my sophomore year, I received the same positive energy from the staff and my peers. My guidance counselor, Ms. Hunter, helped me to prepare and offered me the opportunity to enroll in…

I’ve lived in the same neighborhood for as long as I can remember. I’ve gone to school with the same peers. I’ve been blessed enough to not have dealt with much turmoil in my life. I live with my supporting mother who has always been around to drop everything she’s doing to come to my aid. With all this in mind, you could come to the conclusion that I have not had to deal with a lot of change in my life nor have I ever welcomed it. So in my sophomore year when I was invited to participate in a summer program which entailed me leaving home for six weeks, me nor my mother were excited about the opportunity. I did not know that the program, called the Emory Pipeline Collaborative Program, would completely change my outlook on life and my identity…

During my freshman year of high school, I didn’t even know what the Student Government was. I had no idea that, three years later I would be elected as the first one year SGA President (this means I was only in SGA for one year before becoming president, previous presidents have had two years of experience). I started off high school lost and afraid of the world in front of me. Like many students, I struggled to keep myself together mentally and physically. I didn’t really know what I liked or what really interested me. It wasn’t until my junior year that I found something that I connected with. I’ve always been in love with my school and its spirit. Every year I would go all out for spirit week, and I was that one kid that stood out from everyone…

School can be an enjoyable place. It can be a place where friends are made, a place to laugh, make memories, and learn. Even though school has many positive aspects, students can also find many more negative aspects about it. It can be a place where teachers give tons and tons of homework, a place that only makes people stress out, a place where teachers just do not teach anything at all, or do not like certain students, a place full of hard tests, essays, and projects. Sometimes school can only be dreaded, heart and soul. Though school can be unwanted and undesirable for many, it is needed and it brings people many benefits to their future life. Teenagers should not drop out of school, giving up; instead, they should study as hard as they can and get as much knowledge as possible. They should finish high school and look for a higher education.…

I was the type of student to do the bare minimum and do whatever it takes just to get by. Going into this senior year I thought it was going to be a breeze but I've been wrong before. This senior year has taught me that if I want to be successful in my life then I need to give it my all just like Jesus commanded us too. This past summer I started to look into colleges I would be interested in playing football for. I found a few schools in Wisconsin that interested me so me and my mother drove 28 hours in a Prius to go visit 4 schools. During the trip I realized that college is closer than it seems. College is not just something we dream of one day but it is the next step in our lives. I am extremely excited for what God holds for me in the future and am ready to face life's challenges. High school is a lot of pressure but we all will look back one day and remember the good times of it. I am very thankful for the people in my life that have made me the man I am today. Finding the right college is going to a hard decision but I know God will put me at the place I need to be an I am very excited wherever that is going to…

During my first year at Southeastern, I was not sure that this was a real college experience. A little about my background; I came from a high school not much smaller than Southeastern. It was a popular public high school, where parties were wild and drugs and alcohol were present in many of the students lives. Anyways, media portrays college as a big party, “the best years of your life.” Therefore, coming to Southeastern was a little bit of a culture shock, there are not wild parties, and no drugs or alcohol present. Nevertheless, I was not looking to go to a big party school, but I was not expecting college to feel like I was somewhat separated from reality. It took a fair amount of time for me to be completely adjusted to the culture of…

My expectations upon arriving were very high. I was expecting to meet many new people from different parts of the world from many different cultures. The thought of expanding my knowledge with new material had me very excited as well. Handling the workload was going to rely solely on me, and me alone. I knew there wasn’t going to be anyone to blame but me for my own failure. I expected there to be more challenging material introduced to me. My expectations for campus life were way different than what they actually were. I expected it to be like I’ve seen in movies which were undeniably entertaining. I was one of the students that thought that college was going to be a big party. My professors’ expectations of me were going to be drastically different. In high school you were in trouble for not attending class. Written up, and in some circumstances suspended. Your professor does expect you to come to class, but it’s not demanded. There will be no write up’s or suspensions. You are penalized by robbing yourself of the education you are paying for. Your professor won’t ask where your work is; only make you aware that you are failing. Some are nice enough to inquire into what the problem may be. However, again, the work load falls entirely on you. From my experiences I learned that college isn't all about being successful socially, rather, it is about being successful academically. It made me realize that your freshman year of college will…
