Characteristics of research determine the outcome of the research. It reflect on the quality of the research.…
Claims being made in scientific inquiries come from the researcher’s curiosity about any subject they are researching or testing. That claim is the answer to the question that the researcher has posed in the research documentation. Evidence and reasoning are used to back up the claim being made.…
The following criteria may be used by the proponent to determine the significance of the proposed research:…
important to help you make the case for the research questions and/or hypotheses you would want to study.…
Theories resulting from Scientific and Observation & Measurement done by yourself or one group needs to be validated by further study. Reproducing of the scientific method to test the theory again and again gains confidence that the theory is correct, but still may have flaws because the test conditions may be too narrow validate the theory. Therefore testing by others by collaboration with others can help to add more viewpoints on the theory and others who collaborate may run scientific method at other locations and with other conditions to further confirm and/or refine the theory. Peer review allows for others within the scientific community to consider the theory and find flaws or suggest other testing or refinements that are necessary. Peer review may also lead to collaboration with scientist who can run additional testing and may have access to more resources for testing (better equipment, more manpower, research funding, etc).…
The criteria for a hypothesis-based scientific study involves a few steps that should be followed in order. First, an observation is made and then a question should be posed about the observation that can be tested and possibly proved false. Next, we can make a hypothesis or educated guess about the result cause of the problem. We can then make a prediction on what may fix the issue. The final step would be to test our prediction to find the conclusion.…
Read the Greenhouse Manual that first appears when you open this webpage. (Note: Once you close the manual window, you can refer back to this information as the Greenhouse Handbook on the shelf.)…
Research must be valid and reliable. Validity insures that what is being measured is actually being measured. With out reliability and validity the research becomes questionable and is no longer a good source on which to base business decisions. Sound measurement must meet the tests of validity, reliability and practicality (Lind, 2005).…
A critical literature review may have a negative effect on the testability and replicability of the findings of the current research.…
Evidence (How does the author support their argument /finding? Question the credibility, logic, or empirical basis of what the author has written. The weight of evidence is important. Evidence means the foundation for the argument. Do they have facts or just opinions? How many people’s views are represented? Is it just a few anecdotes from a few people or a major representative survey? Are they drawing on other experts or credible sources?) Page (list the page numbers in the right hand column that relate to the evidence you find) (104)…
1. The scientific method allows for an organized and systematic approach to problem solving. It represents the “backbone” of scientific research, as well as a useful method in everyday decision making. The steps involved in the scientific method would include, but not be limited to, the following:…
Scientific method can be described as a method for research and study that is applied to investigate observations and also to bring answers to the questions that are being asked. Also it involves the evaluation and investigation of present and future problems. The cause and effect relationship can be exploited within the scientific method. It also exploits all of the facts, opinions, records and evidence to find the right plan. Being a human service professional, using scientific method can help to identify the solution to the problem that the client is having. It will also help…
The purpose of the scientific is to answer a question, state the problem, and find a solution. The research question is the most important part of the scientific method. Usually the research question is addressed as the problem or the problem stated. Following the research questions are more steps which include hypothesis (an educational guess to the problem stated), experiment ( develop of procedure to test the hypothesis, and analysis (recording the results)…
The purpose of this assignment is to critique and evaluate the chosen article in terms of strengths and weaknesses, and to demonstrate an understanding of the research process. This article takes you through a critical appraisal exercise using an article from a Medical Journal. It describes how you decide whether to read and use an article that may be relevant to one’s research. Polit and Hungler (1997), believe that a true understanding of ‘a sound theoretical foundation to guide practice is enhanced by the ability of nurses to critique research.’ For the purpose of this critique the model chosen is that of Parahoo (1997).The purpose of this critique, the framework of Parahoo (1997) and Polit and Hugler (1999) have been used as a guide.…
For this task I am going to discuss the function of research in my chosen area of interest.…
