Why I Want To Pursue My Education
Ever since I can remember, I have desired to further my education at the University of Kansas. I love the campus, town, and the close proximity to where I live now. Taking trips of my own to the campus and city in addition to a college visit only confirms my desire. Over the past year, I have decided that I would like to pursue a degree in English, later adding a degree in secondary education to that. English has always been my strongest subject in school. In elementary school, I was praised by my teachers and classmates on my abilities to write, and I was also reading at a high school level by the third grade. She connects to students on more than simply a teacher to student basis - something I have long admired. As I thought about these qualities, I realized that this is something I want to do. While enjoying teaching a language and subject that I feel confident in, I also would like to be able to make a difference in each student I teach. While in my senior year, I most enjoy class discussions, essay writing, and editing other's papers, which is something that I would some day assign to my own students, and then be able to assist them in whatever way. I would love the opportunity to help students in a subject I love, as well as help them in any out-of-school related issue they may be having. The first step of acquiring the abilities to reach these aspirations is attending a school that teaches me the most effective methods in doing so.
